I have been a member of Ancestry.com for many years. Like many genealogy sites it has been fairly decent with some minor until the past year or so. Just some background, about two years ago I started having trouble downloading documents on Ancestry.com. I contacted Ancestry and to date this issue is still not resolved. Now currently as of about two to three weeks ago I can not use the narrow features on the searches for any documents. For example, I will search a surname (open to broad spelling) narrowed to a county and state only. I will click search, somehow during the search Ancestry changes the narrowed search from county and state to state only. The results is usually many thousands more results, if not more. I have been searching using the ‘narrow features’ for years and now all of a sudden I can’t unless I want to go through tens thousand, hundred thousands or even more results.
Again, I have spoke with many different representatives and when they don’t know what to say they start saying whatever. I had a supervisor start taking my family tree information. Somehow he started recording it (in writing or on computer) and I mockingly give him some names. Then he asked when they was born and died. This was so ridiculous I thought he was joking around. Ancestry records these calls. This was the last straw. They don’t know what’s going on so they try to distract from the real issues. It’s totally unbelievable, but people need to know ancestry.com does not care, they lie and continuously try to distract people from their real complaints if they don’t know what to do.
There is so many other unbelievable things they have said. Many try to help but I know their hands are tied. The technicians have no concerns and Ancestry doesn’t insist they do their job. Now I no longer can use Ancestry the way I have been and I don’t have time to go through 100,000’s of results.
