This office tarnishes the name of dentistry. They consistently tried to over-charge us. I was always having to argue with them to keep them on track as to what insurance paid, what we paid in advance (because you have to pay for everything in advance) and they STILL always tried to make us pay for things we didn't owe.
We finally decided we would no longer go to see them. But they still had a crown that was for my husband which he had paid 500.00 for and they would NOT let us have it. So I reversed the charges for that through my Discover Card. They charged me a missed appointment fee of 25.00 for an appointment I had to cancel because I had flu. I rescheduled it for later that week on a Friday. But Dr. Susman cancelled on me for that day. I spoke with Kendal, the rude, passive aggressive, non-managerial trained, office manager, and told her that Dr Susman cancelled on me later the same week, how is that fair? That I would be charged since I didn't feel well and didn't want to infect the office and patients with flu, they charged me 25.
00 but I couldn't charge her 25.00 for 4 days later when Dr. Susman cancelled on me? So, she said okay, I'll remove that charge. You still owe 249.30. I asked her for what? She said it is something for your husband. I said I need an itemized statement. We pay for everything before it is done and we DON'T owe anything. Still, they insisted. And this week, I received correspondence from US Collections West Inc that they say now the Principal is 927.86 and interest is 31.12 and the total is 958.98. Money we do not owe them. It looks like they are now keeping the crown and charging us for the money when I reversed the charge on Discover.
The office manager there is so unprofessional and rude. They must have sent her to 'how to be a horrible office manager' because she uses tactics which are exactly opposite of what one would learn in 'how to be an excellent office manager.' She is very passive aggressive (though I'm not sure she understands what that is) but when you tell her what you are bothered by, she looks down and away, will not face you head on, pretends not to listen and then says the ultimate passive aggressive phrase "I'm sorry YOU FEEL THAT WAY." I attempted to tell her 'You are passive aggressive. Have you received training on how to work with customers?" But, it's no use. She was challenging me to become unprofessional with her and I don't operate like that.
So, I phoned their corporate office, and it was just as bad. A gentleman got on the phone and literally started screaming at me. I tried to explain how they would not give my husband's crown to him so he could take it to his new dentist after we had paid for it and they were trying to charge us some fee for something that they couldn't even tell us what it was for and that I was going to file complaints against them. He was screaming that I would pay it and that .....I hung up. I have never seen such unprofessional people in my life. The nerve of them that they would take a crown and JUST keep it.
Also Dr. Susman would not assist me in saving a tooth that I had which was worth saving. It had an old bridge on it and I needed the bridge removed and replaced. She absolutely would not. So reluctantly I went ahead and let them remove the two teeth in the back that I needed and it has been so traumatic for me. They made a partial that doesn't fit, that costs me 250.00 which I will never wear and I have to be careful when I smile or it shows that on that side I'm missing teeth. Well thanks to them, I don't have much to smile about. While all of this was going on, they knew that I was out of work and on unemployment. They still tried to take advantage. Everytime, I would go there Dr. Susman would ask if I had found a job and I hadn't. I still haven't. I have worked in the IT field as a software engineer. Now, it looks like I'm finally about to get a job but during these bad times for people that we are still living in, for someone to take advantage or 'try to' it really shows what they are made of. I would never take advantage of anyone under any circumstance. But Doctors and Dentists for some reason try to intimidate people and think they can get away with it. THEY CAN'T. People wake up and stand up for yourselves. Don't let them get away with this stuff!
