After having a family dental plan with Ameritas for a little over a year, my wife had crowns repaired at a cost of over $2,000. The dentist checked coverage with Ameritas prior to procedure and they were told that 50% would be paid. We paid our portion and had the procedure done. Then, when the claim was filed, Ameritas refused to pay anything. After an appeal, they agreed to only pay $190 and that was it. My dentist, who I have had for many, many years assures us the procedure was necessary and not cosmetic. He does not understand why they will not pay. Avoid this company at all costs. They do not pay. They have zero integrity and seek to deny as many claims as they can. They do not care for the consumer.
