It took less than 24 hours for us to realize something was very wrong with this law firm. After being baited with what they called a 'Zero Down' enrollment for Chapter 13 assistance, we were contacted the very next day with a demand for several thousand dollars before they could even begin. How is this a Zero Down enrollment? The lady that called, named Sandra Villegas, turns out to be the Aunt of the principal, Ashley Amerio. Our investigation into the matter proved very interesting, indeed. It seems that she is the sister of Ashley Amerio's father, Wayne J. Majors, aka Jay Miller, charged and plead guilty of embezzling almost 1.79 MILLION dollars from American Law Center, later renamed American Attorney Center. It also appears that Ashley Amerio's father has, to some extent, funded his daughter's business, Amerio Law Firm. It seems that the apple truly does not fall far from the tree! Interestingly, Sam Wergerer, the Legal Administrator that handled our initial consultation, suggested we refrain from paying our currently up to date mortgage payments as a way to pay the required fees to Amerio Law Firm. That is, until they discovered we actually had some cash already saved for this endeavor. One doesn't need to be an attorney to recognize how unethical, if not illegal that was! I was able to recognize the hustle-grade tactics early because I observed great similarities as a top "Tax Director" (a fancy name for sales representative) several months in 2005 for the now infamous Law Firm of Roni Deutch. I strongly encourage folks to Google the story of the "Tax Lady" for a more complete understanding of the tactics this complaint is about. We were lucky enough to have escaped financial trauma from Amerio Law Firm before we lost money and hope this report saves others from the same.
