In '07, we took out a loan to replace the windows on our newly purchased home. We borrowed $12,631.89. To date, we have paid $13,021.28. We recently filed bankruptcy, and these folks forced me to reaffirm the original loan, claiming we still owe $9588.77. They used the threat of foreclosing on our home as a stick----these people have no carrots.
The original loan was signed under extreme pressure from the window salesman, and a LOT was not disclosed until it was to late; that we had just taken out a second mortgage on our home, that the payoff would be more that twice the original amount and that the loan started out 2 months in arrears.
The reaffirmation I was forced to sign under threat of losing my home puts us several more months behind.
This company has always been threatening, and they often lie over the phone. Their loans are the very definition of predatory, but they get their panties in a bunch if you dare say those words in conversation.
I filed a complaint with the CFPB, and said that Amerifirst should have to disclose that these loans are predatory and that they will use the threat of taking your home fairly quickly in the process
