Americas Best Value Inn Reviews

We had a reservation. We were NOT told it could not be cancelled.

We arrived to check in. Arturo the front desk clerk told us check in time was at 3pm, even though we were told we could check in at noon. Arturo told us we could not check in till 3, but it would probably be more like 4 because the maids were not there yet. We went to another hotel , checked in and were in our room within 5 minutes.

I called America's Best Value inn Alpine to cancel the reservation. Arturo was clueless and we ended up speaking to a very unprofessional and sarcastic manager. He was rude and would not give me his name. He refused to cancel the charges.

He never apologized, Please for your sake avoid this terrible and unprofessionally run Inn. I believe Roger is the Manager I spoke with.

He is a dishonest and unprofessional manager that does not care about Customer service. PLEASE stay away from this hotel.

Our family had saved to take a short weekend to the beach. We used Priceline to look for hotels in the Gulf Shores area nut knew we didn't have enough for the beach area so decided to look in Foley. Foley also has many attractions of it's own. We picked the Express Deal and Priceline awarded the room to Americas Best Inn and Suites. We arrived and checked in to find a smoke saturated room. I dare say the smell was not all tobacco smoke either. We had booked as a non-smoking room. We are a non-smoking family and also had a new born with us. There was other issues with the hotel as well such as 20-30 people in the back parking lot drinking and playing loud music. One man passed out in one of the hallways and a musty smell throughout. There was no toilet tissue in the room and only 2 towels. Still with all that, the smoke saturated room was the deal breaker. This room was well beyond just a smoking room. It was the most intense smoke smell I have experienced since the 80s, tobacco and other smoke. This was late at night but we went to the front desk and explained we could not stay in that room. The manager on duty said they were booked and nothing else was available. They proceeded to inform us that since we booked online, no refund would be offered. We had no option but to leave and find another room. We paid for 2 nights at Americas Best Inn and Suites that we did not stay. We had saved for some time for the trip so the loss of this money cut some of our activities short. This was almost a house payment that we paid for a room and received nothing of value for it. Both Americas Best and Priceline blame the other for the issue but they both made money and I received nothing.

Americas Best Value Inn, Oakhurst CA, does not provide cleaning for stay overs. According to a person called Mitch, who is at the front desk, and is an extremely deceptive and invidious individual, whatever mess you create you should clean it yourself. This freak should be working in a salt mine, not in a hotel that requires a mature, honest, and well balanced person.

All hotels provide daily cleaning. Hotels that do not provide daily cleaning disclose this fact upfront. Americas Best Value does not disclose that they do not clean rooms daily; nor do they disclose that if guest complains about his room, he is denied all future lodging, and the sheriff is called and an incident report is done on the guest; nor do they disclose their tyrannical check-out policy. Tyrannical is a perfect description. None of this is disclosed by this crooked and very corrupt hotel. But it should be disclosed and the public should know how this grossly dishonest hotel operates.

What kind of a business calls the sheriff on its customers? Do business owners who have sound judgment and operate with honesty and ethics want the sheriff around? Doesn’t it look bad for business? To call the sheriff where no criminal act has been committed and have him pound on hotel doors and harass and intimidate a paying customer is what crooks who engage in criminal practices do. This is the method of operation employed by Americas Best Value in Oakhurst CA.

The worst thing any business can do is call the sheriff on any customer. But this crooked hotel does in-fact call the sheriff on anyone, at anytime, for any reason, and they do not disclose this fact. This very important fact about Americas Best Value in Oakhurst should be known by every hotel booking company and every website that submits reviews. Without knowing the truth about egregious acts of hotels against travelers, people cannot make an informed decision on whether they want to give their money to such a business. Does a person want to support such corruption with his and her money.

There are health violations due to trash not being empty. The trash is always flowing over and there are always family members of the employees sitting in the lobby and hanging around. Children of the hotel maids sitting in the hallway while their parents are working.

Each room has a statement that says: “check out by 11:00am (and rooms keys must be brought to front desk upon checking out letting us know everyone is out of the room) There are no ifs ands and buts about this (no exceptions of any kind are or will be made) It is hotel policy. If you do not check out by 11:00 your card will be charged. Charges to the card if all guests are not out of room by 11:00 and keys brought to front desk are as follows:

If you are out between 11:01 - 11:31 you will be charged $25 fee

If you are out between 11:32 - 12:00 you will be charged $50 fee

If there are any damages done to the room or the room is ruined in any way a $150 fee will be charged."

This policy, which deliberately avoids warning about having the sheriff intimidate the guest, is proof enough of the hate and disdain that this Americas Best Value Inn has for people whose money support it. To use the sheriff without real criminal activity is an outrage and a violation of a person's right to know beforehand how he and she will be treated by the tyrants who run and operate this criminal organization operating as a hotel. When people make a reservation for this hotel, they are not informed about any of these outrages commited by this hotel. It should be a legal requirement that hotels with these consumer hating policies, and policies that are meant to harm the consumer, must be disclosed before the consumer lets go of his and her money, which crooked hotels never refund.

Please know that I tried to address my concerns with America's Best Value Inn directly. Unfortunately, they responded with route and generalizations. Here's a bit of backstory: I've been a guest at this motel on two other occasions. In all honesty, housekeeping has always been an issue. I've been assigned rooms that seemed to be in use and rooms that reeked of feces with large bowls of baking soda on the floor. I've pulled back blankets and discovered hair on the sheets. So why did I stay there, let alone make additional reservations? It's simple, I mistakenly thought the pros outweighed the cons. I stand corrected. The cons: worn and dirty carpeting throughout the entire motel, super small rooms, dim hallways, access doors that don't lock. The pros: nice curb appeal, flat rate for my dog, free wifi, free continental breakfast (okay lukewarm tea and bagels). As I look back on my list, things don't exactly break even, do they? Here's the tiebreaker: I confirmed a reservation for two for Labor Day weekend. Just like before, I requested a room for two adults and a small dog. Just like before, I telephoned the motel (prior to confirming with Booking.com) and asked about room availability and pet fees. Everything seemed fine.

Long story longer, upon arrival, America's Best Value Inn refused to honor my reservation. Despite what was said to me on the telephone (and what was included in the liner notes with Booking.com) they would not give us a room. It seems that they had rooms, just not pet friendly rooms....which if you recall, I confirmed with the front desk manager PRIOR to making the reservation. Remember, it's Labor Day weekend...motels are booked to capacity...when I reminded the front desk manager that we'd driven almost 3 hours to get there and had nowhere else to go, he said, "that's your problem." Booking.com attempted to intervene on my behalf, but were unsuccessful in swaying the motel to honor the reservation. Their only recourse: put a note in the America's Best Value Inn file about the situation and attempt to find us accommodations elsewhere. In the days since, I've filed a formal complaint with America's Best Value Inn and it's mother company, Vantage. After weeks of silence, the manager of America's Best Value Inn responded by informing me that I hadn't reserved the room with a credit card and therefore they weren't obligated to hold the room for me. Perhaps...but the room WAS reserved with a credit card via Booking.com. My complaints to America's Best Value Inn have fallen on deaf ears. I'm warning everyone, just stay away from this hell-hole!
