I have been trying to cancel my subscription to AWAI's professional writer's group since April, as there was no value in it for me. I was reassured by customer service that my membership was cancelled and they would no longer be dedutin money from my account. Imagine my surprise when I get an email from the company on May 19 stating that they tried to withdraw money from my bank account but were unable to do so, so could I please update my payment information so they could try again.
I immediately emailed their support department to find out why they were trying to take money from me for a subscription I had previously cancelled. When "Chuck" emailed back, he stated that he had corrected the issue and there would be no further attempts at withdrawing money from my account. Well, that was a lie. On May 26 2016, I went to pay for a life savinig medication, only to find out AWAI had in fact taken more money from me on May24, 2016. At this point, I both called the service line, and emailed "Chuck" to find out what was going on. The lady on the phone stated that she would issue the refund, and that she was sorry for the inconvenience.
"Chuck" emailed me back on May 27, 2016 trying to claim that it was not a withdrawal from my bank that they did, but a deposit. Apparently in AWAI's eyes, taking money from former customers is really a refund...
What did happen was that the lady on the phone had issued the refund like she should have, and someone else from AWAI decided to take the money back from my account within a minute or two of it being returned to me. Now, the office has apparently closed early, and I still have to do without the medicine I need to keep me alive until this fraudulent company actually returns my money.
The company is highly questionable to work with, and un you don't mind taking the risk of them taking your money long after you cancel with them, I would steer clear.
I have received numerous items of information frequently containing solicitations for participation in AWAI program. I have researched the Ripoff site, but have found no reports since 2013. Please advise if there are any newer reports. I have not paid any money yet.
