American International College, Kuwait is misnamed. This school name has been in existance in Maryland for over 100 years and there is currently a cease and disist order against AIC Kuwait. This "school" withheld half of first month salary to educators and called it a deposit.
Civil ID's were not issued and used as a means to manipulate staff. Tourist visas were issued and reissued at the employees expense for hotel/meals accomindation. The "President" of the "University" was merely a figurehead and was not allowed to see the budget. Additionally they did not disclose the location of apartments in relationship to the "University"-it is over 30 kilometers with no transportation assistance.
The apartments were substandard. They micromanaged others with fingerprint i.d. punch in/out. Forms were required to be filled out and signed by supervisors to use the copier. Poor standards for passing lowered to 56% to insure student success. This "school" did not get accredidation for bachellors degrees and had only enrolled less than 30 students at the end of their first semester.
The Emplyee Handbook was made available to teachers after 3 months of emplyment. In it you will find details of more micromanagment and expoloitive practices. Emplyees are not allowed to leave campus during working hours.
A series of policies discuss attendence, performance and fees and financial penalties that will be levied against employees. There is nothing that resembles an, "authentic American education both in and outside of the classroom." Nor are there enough students to boast, "a robust student community."
In short, the "University" is fraudulant in its' promise of being a place of higher learning. Standards this low will not be accredited by a reputable body. The environment was a toxic combination of micromanagment, fear, intimidation and constant instability.
