Bought two Queen beds at $50 a month with all the confusion meaning $400. At $700 they added on $1000 leasing fee because they say was not paid by July 16, which of course it was. They have the payments wrong; charging $167 a month and using $10 as the principal. Up to $1600 now for two cheap mattresses and platform. They keep changing the payments each month. Calling me to pick up the beds after six months. Nuthouse down their.
I did not agree to lease any beds. How to lease a bed? They take it back and resell it?
Purchased a Kenmore refrigerator in April 2021. The refrigerator never worked. Nearly a month later and I am still trying to get them to replace the fridge. There is a reason why they have a no refund policy, this is exactly why they sell products that don't work and then make you go through numerous steps to get a replacement.
I have no confidence that the replacement will even work. Absolutely will never do business with them again. Expensive lesson. Buyer beware. I do not recommend doing any business with American Freight.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator from American Freight yesterday and picked it up on the same day. Immediately it had several issues. I contacted their warranty department the next day and they refused to help me because it takes five business days before they are able to enter warranty information into their system. However, the warranty contract states that the warranty begins on the date of purchased or the date the item is acquired; whichever is later.
So according to the contract, my warranty started yesterday and I should be eligible for assistance. After telling them this, they passed me around to a dozen different people who were unable to help and I spent over an hour on the phone without any results. When I asked to speak to a manager, several times, none were available. This company is negligent in their customer service and couldn't care less that I have a brand-new item that does not work. I spent over $2,000 there yet they refuse to help me.
American freight is as bad as the car stores the same man owns. The furniture is filled with bugs. His mattresses are refabs and several people I know have gotten bedbug infestations from buying mattresses from the scam artist!!
I will specify this report for their mattresses, as I didn't bother to look at anything else after this incident. I have purchased a mattress here in the past. I was aware of their tendency to disregard their warrantee, and their failure to follow through on their shipping. I arrived with my own means to retrieve my purchase at time of payment, and with how long my previous mattress lasted, I wasn't concerned with the warrantee for the $200 I planned to spend on one. I figure that if one pays ONLY $200 on a mattress such as their Perfect Care 3000, that it is a risk anyway, and the risk previously panned out for 8 years for me. Their website listed this mattress at $200 per piece. I had called roughly 3 weeks prior and was told that I could purchase the mattress without the foundation (my current foundation still works) for the listed price. When I arrived, I was told by a sales person that his boss won't allow him to sell a mattress alone for the listed price. The mattress with foundation were priced at $298. The salesman told me that the foundation is $80 whether you purchase that alone or not. He also explained that they don't give a pack discount either and that when you itemize the costs, the base price for the mattress is nearly $220 before taxes, and that his boss won't allow him to sell a mattress alone without a considerable markup. When I asked him why it isn't congruent with their listed prices on their site, he explained that their store's local management decided on this scheme. I wish to specify that throughout the conversation, the salesman repeatedly conferred with his boss on my behalf. I believe it was on my behalf because I deduced from his tone that he was also unhappy about the apparently general lack of honesty and cohesion within that company. The salesman never mentioned his name. Although I made note of it on his nametag, I wish to keep his name anonymous. I have been a salesman at a retail chain when I was young, and his honesty among his peers and management makes me fear for rebuttal against him from his management should they find his name involved in a report which speaks unfavorably against his company. I left without making a purchase as I can't even bring myself to give my business to any company that operates like this. I hope the salesman is able to find a better employer.
I put a layaway in on 7/17/15.After the intial $40 deposit The total was $2071.52 . The original delivery date was set for 10/11/15. I called and cancelled the delivery on the morning of 10/11/15 ,but I went into the store and I made a payment of $1,000. My new Balance was $1,071.52. On Thursday 5/19/16 I called to find out my balance and set up a new delivery date. I was told my items had been delivered on 12/16/15 . Furious, I asked where the items had been delivered. The associate then says ,"Oh ,I see you took the money off the bedroom, living room and dinette and put it on 2 mattresses and you picked them up 12/16/15 . I said sir, you've obviously given my things to the wrong person, how did you allow someone to make account changes AND "pick it up" without them showing proper identification? He nonchalantly told me to come in the next day and the Store manager Damon Blount would be able to show me the tape, and the signature abd resolve the issue. I asked for the regional manager's number, proceeded to call him and left a message giving a full run down. On Friday May 20th ,2016 I arrived at the American Freight, Warren store and spoke with a very lackadaisical Damon Blount. He showed me the customer pickup log, and I adamantly explained that that wasn't my signature. I asked about checking i.d of the person who claimed to be me. He brushed me off and said I'd have to take everything up with the regional manager. He then implied that I must have given someone my information, because "they knew the exact layaway amount, and the remaining balance" . I was floored, and said the only people who had that information are the store employees. I went to my car to call Doug Troop, regional manager. He also was no help at all. He said the tapes don't go back to December, he can't do anything for me,he can't prove that I did or didn't receive the two mattresses. I told him I believe this is fraud ,also that it's an inside job . He very nonchalantly told me to call the police, there was nothing else he could do. I'm beyond pissed. Further action will be taken.
