American Family Insurance Company agreed to cover my claim after their insured hit me. I was not at fault.
American Family Insurance has refused to take care of the loss in value that my 2021 vehicle sustained and occurred through no fault of my own. I was rear-ended by an individual in a work vehicle on 8/13/2021 who American Family Insurance insures. This is now forcing me to use the legal system, reviews and more of my time to get this company to do what they are legally bound to do without the hassle.
I would consider a fair resolution to be American Family Insurance covering the loss of value I have now endured to my 2021 vehicle due to their insured hitting me.
I decided to check out AIL on the internet while waiting for the "powerpoint/movie" session(interview #2). Didn't realized soo many websites were filled with unhappy encounters but it made me come up with a few questions to ask them on interview #2.
"Turnover of agents in the first year?"
"Expected hours spent in a day?"
"What common factor did you see in the group of twenty of us today?"
No answer given to any of my questions in the after movie interview. Confused, I asked "wasn't I supposed to ask questions at this point?". He just looked at me and took notes. That was when I truly realized that there was something not quite 'right' here. He had gone all cold on me the second I asked my three queries.
I left feeling all weird and ruffled and when I got home I looked up AIL more thoroughly. Lot of negativity out there! Hey, I fell for the Kirby sales ploy back in the '80's and this is exactly what that felt like.
Soo... Don't take my word if you are a prospective employee just ask a few simple questions yourself before you make the final leap. This might be the job for you.
Point of interest: note that most of the comments found out here about how good AIL is seems to be written by English failures -mis-spelled words, lack of capitalization, run on sentences, etc., etc. Just really doesn't match up to people that make a high wage in any field.
Point of interest: Look around at the people they picked out to sit with you to watch their power point -there is nothing in common with any of them. A hairstylist, a weight trainer, ex-DOC employee, an iron worker... quite a jumble of mismatched job seekers. Odd, since most fields draw people of similar traits.
Point of interest: Did you actually put an application with this company? I did not but didn't realize this until after I got home and reviewed all the app's I put in this week.
Well... I hope I have given YOU enough info to not walk into this blindly. ASK lots of questions!! If this sounds like something for you then jump on it!!!
It's not for most job seekers with limited incomes-
In my opinion, American Family Insurance scams its own insurance agents. They profit from terminating their agents who are local small business owners trying to build a business to achieve their dreams. American Family Insurance is all about protecting the dreams of their clients, but at the same time they are crushing the dreams of their agents.
Here are some facts:
American Family Insurance agents are in a contract that can be terminated at any time for any reason.
American Family Insurance agents DO NOT own their “book” (the policies) and have no rights to it if American Family chooses to terminate them.
When an American Family Insurance agent gets terminated (no matter the reason, if any), all of their policies get “bulk transferred” to another agent(s). American Family doesn’t pay commissions on these bulk transfers for 12 to 23 months.
In addition to corporate American Family pocketing the commission for 12 to 23 months, the agent who receives these bulk transferred policies only gets paid 57% of the normal commission rate after that 12 to 23 month period.
American Family Insurance is literally profiting from terminating agents. Now, you would think that a growing insurance company would be increasing its agency force, but the amount of American Family Insurance agents has actually decreased by close to 25% over the last several years.
Why would American Family Insurance terminate good agents?
It doesn’t matter if you are a good agent or a bad agent, the company will profit more and help its bottom line by firing you. Even if you are a great agent, the company is paying you 100% of the commission rate on your policies. They can terminate you, transfer those policies to other agents, not pay any commissions at all for 12 to 23 months (the new agent is forced to service the policies for free) and then only pay 57% of the commission rate after that.
American Family Insurance pockets 100% of the commission for those 12 to 23 months, then pockets 43% of what should be paid out to its agents.
I called American Family back in August 21, 2015 in order to cancel my home and auto insurance. I asked the agent, who took care of this for me, if I could also cancel my Life Insurance policy through them as well. The agent told me yes and at the end of the call I was under the impression that everything had been taken care of for me. For the past two months I have continued to get billed for a policy that I asked to be canceled and was under the impression that it was canceled. After noticing that I am still being billed, I called today to once again cancel the policy. Luckily this time I was sent to the correct department who informed me that the previous agent was wrong and that I needed to speak to them and sign a form in order to make sure that it gets canceled.
