American Advocacy Group Reviews
I hired American Advocacy Group to help me get IHSS benefits for my son. They had me fill out a medical release. They said they would collect all information needed but would always contact me to pick up reports and fax them to their office. They were able to convince IHSS to award my son 8 hours per month. For a year, I was not able to cash those hours. They quickly sent me a bill though. They put an appeal because they forgot to ask for protective suppervision. By then I was woking less hours to care for my son and take him to the many therapies he has attending.
AAG continued to tell me not to worry, IHSS would retropay me from the time I applied. My bank account was quickly depleating but when the appeal day approached the company abandoned my case. Not one person returned my calls! Social workers are bad enough to deal with but the people I hired to fight for me also abandoning me?!? A month later they called, apologized and said "they would make things right." Our contract had expired by then but they said they knew they had messed up my case and would help me through it. Instead, they failed to provide information that would help my case so I received payment for 6 months instead of 18months like they promised so many times. And to make things worse, two months later they were trying to charge me again! They failed me in so many ways. If I paid the fees and was never paid the hours for the previous year, I sure would not and did not agree to pay them again!! Now I have a collections agency calling me.
Please read the company reviews before you sign a contract. These people take advantage of desparate parents needing help. Most advocate groups charge large amouts of money and they arent even lawyers!!
American Advocacy Group is an IHSS disability advocacy agency that uses unfair and unethical business practices. They prey on vulnerable and disadvantaged families of disabled individuals. They lure in potential clients with grandeur promises and scare tactics.
In many cases, such as mine, the work they performed was far below the bare minimal. I ended up doing all the hard work and advocating for myself while they sat back and took the credit for it. They charged me $9,945 and literally all they did for me, was file a 2 page document, and sit silently through a one hour assessment, thats it! And I'm not the only one who feels ripped off by this agency.
I've spoken to numerous former clients of AAG, who either had similar experiences, and/or felt that they were unreasonably overcharged for services rendered. AAG claims to assist with any IHSS complications that may arise (within the contract period) after approval.
One former client that I spoke with, reported that extenuating circumstances had caused him to lose his ihss benefits shortly after he got approved, ultimately rendering him unable to pay. AAG refused to assist him and instead, relentlessly pursued payment through legal action effectively destroying his life.
What this agency is doing to their clients is outright swindlery and highway robbery by any definition. It is so wrong on so many levels. AAG needs to be formally investigated and they need to be stopped.
