On may 30, 2018 my coumputer froze up and gave me a contact number to call (americangeeks). I was told I needed an anti-virus software program installed on my new computer. i was charged $699.00. i began experiencing problems with me computer days later and when i couldn't get in touch with americageeks, i called a MicroSoft representative (oneamerica), who informed me that this company was on the scam list.
i reported this to my bank and supposedly $699.00 will be credited to my account in the a.m. (june 5, 2018).
this is a 1st time for me, so therefore, i've learned to cross reference the company b4 transacting any business with them. i honestly thought they were legit because the company's number popped up immediately after my computer froze up due to a virus and the company number to call.
Got a phone message that a company had charged me $399 for their computer virus application, and if I wanted to cancel to call the number given.
First, I got no answser in the evening; called the next morning and spent over 40 minutes with them, downloading several programs "to verify my identity" before returning the $399. Finally got to a program that couldn't download on my Mac so they said they'd have to call back. When they did, I had deleted all those programs in mistrust, and was told I'd have to reload them.
They could charge me the $399 to me in a second, but not even cancel it in over 40 minutes? I asked what the company name was, and the person said Geeks America. The next person said they were called the Geek Squad w/ Microsoft, and when I asked about being told Geeks America, was told all companies with that name and the other were part of Microsoft! And they can't email the "necessary document" to me to fill out! None of it made sense as I didn't request the $399 program in the first place! If I did by accident, the $399 wasn't referred to in the least. Ripoff!!
They keep you online and open fake emails, then purchase amazon cards with your info, they call you with all type of different numbers, and when you call them back, that number doesnt exist anymore
This company is the worst. They draw you in by providing excellent tech support for a year. Then out of the blue, they call and say they are refunding my money because their server had a problem. They were also brazen enough to say it is a federal law that they must refund your money. They ask for credit card number, but I told them I didn't have any credit cards, so they asked for my checking account number which Igave the guy a hard time and he huge up.
Then they had a second guy call me(much more polite and professional) and he almost got me until he found out I have no money in the bank. He asked for an American Express card and I told him I didn't have one and the conversation ended. The sole purpose of this company is to gain access to your personal information.

On August 23,2017 my computer was locked by susposedly Microsoft. A number was left to fix the problem. I signed up and paid my 2 year fee. I received a new message today about my computer had been infected and was given a phone number for Windows tech support.
Called geeks Americas for help, phone number would not connect on 2 tries. Looked up thier phone number only to discover that I had been scammed.
OnSept 2017 this company informed me that another company-- SpyHooks which I paid $299.99 to-- had ripped me off. They took ahold of my computer and said they cleaned it up and advised me to get a refund from Spy Hooks. I paid $399.99 to America Geeks fo a "Lifetime" coverage. I cand not get ahold of them either by their number 10888-610-0490. Per my receipt confirmation there was another number- 1-88-588-2055. This number keeps telling me to hold on for tech support- I was on hold for 45 minutes prior to hanging up and contacting you.

They are very good at convincing anyone, and have good answers to all my questions. A expensive lesson to learn!
