Amass International Group, Inc. Reviews

  • May 21, 2018

I shipped two pallet of personal effects in January 2018 from Singapore to New York and Amass International Group (New York) Inc who was handling the shippment locally was supposed to inform me immediately on the cargo arrival. But they only contacted me on the last free day (Feb 14 2018). That was the last day for free storage in the warehouse.

They made the initial contact by phone and followed by an email with the Arrival Notice around lunch time on Feb 14th. After I received the Arrival Notice, immediately I called back for more information on the Last Free Day but no one answered. No choice then I replied the email on top of the Arrival Notice to ask them to confirm when is the Last Free Day. I asked if it would be 15 days after I received this notice. But again no one replied. I only received their response two days later and told me that the day I received the Arrival Notice was already the Last Free Day. What!!??

I can just stop right here and you should be able to see what the problem is and where the problem is!

Later when I argued with them they simply ignored whatever I said and my emails all together because they knew the cargo is in warehouse and I have to pay the warehouse charge in order to get it back, so they just lump their payment with the warehouse payment. They would receive their payment whenever I pay the warehouse. I don't know how they did it but I believe this is the loophole in the system. This is REALLY UNFAIR. And if I delayed the payment further eventually would just make myself pay even more. It is just like holding a hostage and ask for ransom. You really don't have any choices. In the end I had to pay more than $1000 for the storage charge!

When I complained to my Singapore shipping agent, with their help I got explanation from the Amass International NY that they had tried to contact me by phone many tiimes after the cargo arrived but no success. That is simply not true as no record in my phone of any calls they mentioned they had made. You can certainly trust AT&T more than those poeple.

Let's forget if they had tried to contact me or not earlier, even if I don't mind all these, but what happened the next really angers me the most. If they even just did something on Feb 14th by informing me that was already the Last Free Day, I could have avoided much of the extra cost. Because I still had almost 3 days before the long weekend. But they just did absolutely NOTHING! And then I have to bear all the extra cost and they didn't lose anything!!?? didn't even give any explanation, just denied any wrong doing as if they have nothing to do with this but in fact all those are their fault!

This is really the worst business I have ever dealt with. This is not fair to a customer and the unfairness is caused by unethical, irresponsible people, bad business management and the loophole in the system. I really hope no one fall into this trap again and be careful with this company.
