I purchased a washing machine from Amana on 12/10/19 and it died on 3/6/19 - I had a Whirlpool certified repair person out and he said that the circuit board on the washer was broken and it would cost $369 for the part and then $65 an hour to repair the mother board - since the washer cost $398 I chose to buy a new washer and work with Amana on the warranty issue after I recieved the new washer. I made sure to make note of the Model and Serial number for future use.
After my new washer was delivered, I contacted Amana and spoke to an extremely rude customer service represenative who stated that Amana would only cover repairs on the washer, not a refund. This didn't seem correct to me so I sent an email to the company and recieved a form letter back, so I filed a BBB report. I very quickly got an email regarding my issue and explained to the company that I had the delivery information for the washer, the serial and model number, and the information regarding the service call stating that the washer was essentially unrepairable and expected a refund for a defective product.
After several emails back and forth Amana agreed to refund the service call, but stated that they needed the actual washer to issue a refund. Of course, at this point the washer had been hauled away by Lowes when they delivered my new washer. I asked for a reason for this policy and was simply told that was the policy. This did not make me very happy as it implies that I am lying to the company about all the other facts of the situation, which is not the case. I chose to leave the BBB report open and continue to let people know that Amana does not stand behind their warranty and not to purchace items from their company.
At this point I would just like a refund for a defective product - I still fail to see why this is an issue for Amana. I am considering filing a small claims suit but have not made a choice about that action yet.
Bought a Amana HVAC in 8/14 in one month Serviceman had install a hard start kit on the AC unit. When it starts the current it pulls shuts down all the florescent lights in the whole house. After the kit was installed all the lights still blink. A hard start kit is only used on units that are at the end of their life. NOT at the beginning. This not my first rodeo.
The furnace (which also controls the AC) locks up any time the power goes off. I manually must turn thermostat off, turn off the furnace breaker, wait 10 minutes, switch the breaker on and the thermostat on for anything to work again. This is a weekend home so having a reliable furnace/AC is critical. Yes I have had the rural electric company out the check the power at the pole/house and at the AC unit. The power is not only good but exceptional.
I have called each day for 4 weeks. Every time I get the same response. Your customer service guy is... He is waiting on a email from the Technical dept. I had a hard start kit installed on a different house in a different city. I asked the guy about this. He gave me a answer in less than 5 minutes.
Answering the phone in less than 5 minutes does not give them the right to give a BS response.
Oh BTW now the Amana service guy has sent me a bill for the hard start kit as that is not covered under warrantee!!!!@@#$$%
