On 09/26/17 a man named Joseph Mendoza, calling from a private number left a message for me to call the Alton Davis Law Firm at 1-855-209-7944. I was transferred to a man named Rusell Abrams/Abhrams, who gave me a case number and told me they were going to serve me for an unpaid medical bill totalling $2,396. He said i was under breach of contract for ignoring an offer they had mailed me. When I asked How I could be in breach of contract when I had never signed anything, he became angry, and told me they had all my information, including address. I became worried and hung up.
I searched for the firm online and found this page containing reports by other people who had been contacted by the same firm. I called them back and got a different person who told me the bill is from a bank...the first time they had said from a hospital. When I told them as such, he too became angry and thretened me by saying they have all my personal info, including my address. The whole thing sounded like they took a copy of my credit report...which nowadays people can purchase online...and was simply reading the information. I told him I would be home, if and when they wanted to send a server out. I would rather deal with the courts than him. He told me he would make sure I would lose everything. I had enough and hung up.
Again, they are not a legitimate law firm. They don't even answer their phone using the name of the firm, they just say corporate office. Please, if you get a call from them, do not make any arrangement to send them money. If you see strangers around your home, call the police. Tell your family in case they get calls from them.
