This company preys on people who can't afford large repair costs. Mostly people buying used cars who want to be protected from having the car they just bought die on them. The way they get you is the worst. You are required to bring your vehicle to a repair shop and have them diagnose the problem to See if its covered.
You think that sound fair, but it's not. You are on the hook for the diagnostic fee, you think no problem it will be covered anyway. Wrong, after teardown you shop calls Alpha Warranty and no matter what is found Alpha says it's not covered. You have them go over the contract with you because you plainly read it is covered. It usually comes down to number 5 of What's not covered. - "Incidental or consequential damages or loss caused by a breakdown of parts (or otherwise) including, but not limited to, property damage, personal injury, inconvenience, and loss of VEHICLE use.
Punitive damages. Covered parts when damage is caused by non-covered parts. Non-covered parts even when damage is caused by covered parts." Everything in the engine says its covered but they say "it clearly states" in my case seals and gaskets are not covered. But actually it does not clearly stat that. Gaskets are listed in two areas as options one is only for the intake gasket.
the other is Enhanced Seals and Gaskets, but high mileage vehicles are not eligable and if the gasket is between a covered and non-cover part... well that's not covered. The next area is number 9 that is reserved when they can't find a way to say it's not covered basically they have an inspection of the fluids and find "sludge" and magically you not covered. So at this point you are stuck paying the shop, in my case $1,900.00 just to put it back together.
The shop wanted to replace the engine but I could not afford that or even to repair the damage to the internal components. I am a mechanic and i was fooled by this contract, that's saying something. I could have done the repair by myself and spent maybe $100.00 now I'm stuck with this huge bill. So like in my case you would be better off not using the warrantee at all and just have the vehicle fixed and avoid all the down time and Diagnostic costs.
So I am looking for some help to get a class action suit for fraud and deceptive buisness practices. I's sure there are enough people who have actual pain and suffering from this company putting them in financial perril as well.
Nothing but trouble so far. Took my car in for some drive train issues. Alpha refused to cover both bad CV joints, and the driveshaft slip-joint. These items are all covered under the agreement, however they say they apparently don't cover anything that has a damaged boot/seal/or gasket. For those who are less mechanically inclined, these parts don't go bad without taking the boots with them. This is a clear case of fine print cop-out. I also needed a motor mount done, which they actually approved at ~$43, which is less than the cost of the part at wholesale. All in all, I got stuck with the shop diagnostic fee, which was cheaper than paying my part of my "covered" repairs. My experience was very poor and the shop said they've seen this more often than not.
Complaint: Failure to pay full amount of claim. I noticed that my vehicle was leaking a small amount of coolant and the fan was running on high. I went to a mechanic and had the coolant system pressure tested. The pressure test did not indicate any leaks in the coolant system. I then went to a different mechanic a week later he said he would run a compression test. The results of the test concluded that there was low compression on of one of my cylinders. The mechanic then contacted ALPHA and stated that there was a Cylinder head over temp code generated by the vehicle computer. Alpha then instructed the mechanic to pull the engine and inspect the head gaskets. The head gaskets were intact. Alpha then instructed the mechanic to have the cylinder heads tested. The tests concluded that one of the heads was cracked. ALPHA then stated they would not cover the claim due to an overheat situation.
The contract states that it will not cover anything due an overheat situation on a full-service contract. The problem is that the overheat situation only applies to the full-service coverage, It states this in the contract!! I have the Supreme Coverage. If the contract clearly stated this, I would not have any complaint. The contract has been changed since my contract which implies that ALPHA understood that their contract was poorly worded. If Alpha had no intentions of paying the full cost they should not have instructed the mechanic to pull the engine and inspect the head gaskets knowing there was a Cylinder over-temp code. I never received any indication of an over temp from my trucks mechanical system. Arbitration is the only option due to there is an arbitration clause in the contract which was not explained when I purchased the contract. This has been costly and time-consuming. Anyone interested in a class action suit to recover their cost?
I paid Alpha $3800 for an extended warranty on my BMW X1 and when the differential went bad they offered only $650 to replace it with a "used" one, which they claimed was of like kind.
This aftermarket car warranty plain and simple cut and dry they are a rip off they do nothing but steal your money and when you cancel your warranty they give you zero dollars back when The actual physical dealer tells you you’re getting eczema dollars back and you literally get nothing they take it and they pay off whatever the balances on the warranty and you get nothing so don’t sign up for it
