I went to an open call with Alpha model group back in around 2003 maybe. I auditioned and was picked out from over 200 ppl in a group of about 20. Went to orientation a few days later. Had to pay up front for being signed and orientation. Then the shoot was scheduled and had to make two payments one for my spot and second ine at time of shoot. Shoot took place in Columbia, SC at a hotel in downtown Columbia. With a makeup artist and sytlist in room. Shoot lasted about an hr to 2 hrs and never got comp cards, prints or anything but a cd with photos on them that got lost in my move. They claimed the payments werent adnormal and about 50 of one payment was for them maintaining my photos and info on their site. They never helped get any work nor offered any work. They wanted models to do everything themselves with the networking and all that. I still have my portion of the contract from me being a signed model with them and may even have the receipts but would have to look.
