I was told that the price is based on cubic footage. The contents of my house was in a storage unit so this was an easy calculation. We based my price on the unit being 100% full but in fact it was less than 75%. I gave them a large deposit and scheduled pick up. They called a few days before pick up and requested an inventory of the contents.
While I was in the middle of listing the contents, they interupted me and informed me that it would be almost $2000.00 more than the contract. They knew I had already moved out of the state and was living in a hotel. They had a large deposit that I felt I had no chance of getting back. I had no choice but to pay the extortion. They demanded that I sign a new contract, provide additional deposit and pay all remaining funds in cash or post office money order.
Once they had all my worldly possessions they became hostile. They refused to tell me when I could expect the shipment or any other information. I had no idea of how long to reserve my hotel. The truck finally showed up 3 weeks later with a missing generator and damaged furniture. They only gave me 24 hours notice that it was coming.
