February, 2014 entered into contract with "All About Asphalt" to pave new driveway of approximately 1300 feet over dirt and shell. Harry Velotta could not start work until he was given 50% of job "up Front" We had a signed contract, wasn't that binding and legal?
Next day he brings in small bobcat and starts scraping driveway, says he completed phase 1 of job and needed more money to progress and order asphalt. Gave us advice to start killing weeds in driveway. We did that about 20 times and H. Velotta never showed up when he said he was going to. After 3 or 4 months I phoned an attorney he had given as a reference, the next day he did show up to complain that I had invaded his privacy. The attorney told me he was going to call him and I guess he did. He had done work for this attorney, seal-coating his parking lots, Velotta threw a lot of names out there trying to convince us he could be trusted. I should of called some of them.
I would call him until he answered his phone, then when he did he would tell my tomorrow. This went on for months. He would say he was doing a big job for someone and he would over-order and start my driveway. He even came over once and I flashed the cash that we still owed him and seriously think that when he saw that cash money, his capped teeth just sparkeled.
I did not trust him to take the rest of my money to get the asphalt so I went to the asphalt plant with him and after about 9 months my driveway was paved.
That is not the end of it. You should see this slip/shod job I got. I was blowing the driveway off one day and a whole section of it blew up about 2 feet off the ground. It was about 1/4" thick, if that.
I believe the only real reason that he completed my driveway was because I called his wife. She is another nut case. Swears like a sailor and dogs him to everyone she knows. sorry for getting into a personal side, but I feel sorry for anyone who goes into contract with him. He Cannot be trusted. And he does bad work
