A couple of years ago I went to Prague to start a small company. For accountancy advice I went to Roald and his Alexio team. At first, things looked ok. I was given basic advice on the company structure options I had. And went with one of them. However, as time went by, and I needed suport from Roald's team with taxes and documentation back and forth between the Czech authorities and I things started going wrong.
You see, the Czech authorities refuse to communicate, even with international business owners, in anything else than Czech. Thus, one has to rely on one's accountant for help on what documentation are sent and required by the Czech authorities. Roald leaves all his work with his assistant, Lucie, and I don't think I offend anyone by saying that there are brigther and more polite people in the world than Lucie. Often, when I had a need for info, she would ignore my emails or give me very, very simple advice. Useless information often.
Fx. the Czech authorities would send me a tax bill or invoice. I would ask Lucie in which context I was to pay the invoice - and would often get answers like "probably because you owe them" or "because you haven't paid". No explanation offered as to why nor in what context I was paying despite asking several times - as you would normally expect of an accountant. Due to Lucie's poor work I completely lost track of where I was in the system; what I was supposed to pay, by when and why. In other words, Alexio failed in the exact areas you would normally hire an accountant to help you.
Because the tax legislation for small companies in the Czech Republic isn't logical and the Czech authorities do not give you an end of the year statement or general reviews, I was often in doubt as to how much I owed or not. On many, many occasions I sought advice on this with Roald's assistants but in 18 months of being a client I never had a real reply.
And what was even worse is that since I had to ask the same questions again and again without receiving a decent reply, the assistants, mainly Lucie, would simply ignore my messages or be downright rude to me. Writing me messages such as "why don't you stop blaming the Czechs for your own mistakes" and worse. Completely unacceptable at a professional level. Roald's staff CLEARLY doesn't understand how to work within an international environment actually having to give real responses.
After a looong wait I finally brought up the issue with Roald. Surprisingly, Roald thinks his company is doing a great job and that he has the right employees. Alexio.cz claims that all their other clients are happy and that there have been no previous issues with his staff - which is odd considering the fact that I have had two other personal friends being clients of Alexio in the past - both often complaining to me about the lack of service from Alexio's staff.
My recommendation would be to stay away from this company. They will give you very basic advice but once Roald leaves you with his assistant you are doomed. I honestly think Lucie and the rest of the Alexio staff are the worst and most rude assistants I have ever come across in my life. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional treatmenet.
