Albemarle Eye Center Reviews
My sister went to Albemarle Eye Center, P.L.L.C. in Elizabeth City, NC for cataract surgery. She saw Dr. Jitendra Swarup, M.D. Office staff said, “You might need reading glasses, most people don't need to wear glasses at all with this surgery” when asked how good will my sight be with this operation?
My sister had the option to get cataract surgery to only remove the cataracts, or other procedures, laser-assisted cataract surgery or traditional cataract surgery, which corrected vision using implanted lenses. The result of having traditional cataract surgery which corrected vision using implanted lenses is loss of her near sight ability plus scar tissue to impair vision. She can no longer read her prescription bottle labels or her diabetes medication (insulin) bottle or needle. She did not need distance vision because she does not drive. Her vision is worse after the surgery than before surgery with the cataracts.
Office staff made the surgery sound like it would give a person great vision, however nothing could be further from the truth. I went with her to her appointments and trusted them, as she did. She signed a surgery authorization which apparently told the truth about reading glasses necessary with this surgery. I do not know if the surgery authorization mentioned the scar tissue issue.
What gives them the right to market their surgical procedures to make people loose their vision? What gives them the right to ask a woman that cannot see to read a surgery authorization to sign it when it states the opposite of what office staff has said?
