I will bring in several items to them they refuse to buy them. Then next person brings the same thing and they do. They don't trade EVER they only give u ten percent of what they sell it for the interest is outrageous. They ignore u when u come in just to chit chat with fellow employees. I bout a god of war game for psp and it was broke and when i came back to return it with my rescipt they refused. They made me buy a new one at full price
I've not ever went online and made a complaint on a company before, however this is a must. Ive done business with this pawn shop in the past, and Ive always felt that these people are unethical (I had them repair a rose gold necklace, and clean my jewelry once, and they kept my rose gold Jesus piece charm. The day I went back to get my jewelry I had given them to repair and clean, the charm was "missing"!. At first they said they NEVER HAD the charm (because the charm was only being cleaned and only the necklace was being repaired. The lady said the repair and the cleaning were on the same ticket # and then the next day I went in to pick up the repaired necklace and they said the charm wasnt with it! When I finally saw the lady who helped me the day before, she then tried to say she gave it to me the day before. Ooooh I wish this website was around back then.). So I should've known to not ever do business with them again right?. Right, but its been over a decade and I was needing a good deal on a television for my son as a present for him doing good in school this year.
I was in there waiting to be helped for about 30 minutes before I finally had to let them know I was disatisfied with how long they took to even acknowledge me, they were kind of busy, but Im 6'2 325 pounds and I am very large frame dude and I am ovbviously there to buy something. I spoke with one sales person who was making jokes about "why I did I want a smart tv since they only talk back?". I explained to him I was possibly looking for a couple of items (an xbox 360, a smart tv, and maybe a long speaker bar to go with the tv if they could work me out a good price.
I had called before I went in and the lady (Christine I beleive) told me they had 3 smart tv's and one was $199 and it was some name I'e never heard of. When I got there it turned out she was mistaken and the one for $199 wasn't a smart tv like I was specifically looking for. So after I finally got help from a salesperson I told him they should match the price and knockoff $50.00 since the lady was wrong, I dont want to say she just said that to get me in there but, anythings possible. Also, since I was buying a gamesystem and a tv and a speaker Im thinking a $50 discount on the items was a good start.
Everyone knows they can haggle on price since they regularly obtain merchandise for next to nothing. I know its a business to make money, but I rarely use pawn shops and ONLY as a very last resort, especially this one, given the past history lesson. So the salesperson made me a an offer on all the items. I didnt like the offer, and by this time I was already frustrated with the service so since the price on just the tv alone was tolerable I went ahead and bought just the tv. Well, The product is defective and incomplete, the power cord is not the right one and it has a short in it.
I did see the original price was $249, and he sold it to me saying they could do $225. I left the shop and got home around 8 pm after I was done with my errands so by this time they were closed. I got in and went to hook up the tv and realized he had only given me part of the power supply cord. I was unerstandably upset, and as a consumer I have the right to get my money back through the federal consumers protection act since they sold me a defective product, that is missing parts and not working correctly. However, I have a lot of cords laying around from over the years and just so happens to have a similar power supply cord that fit into the power block, so I checked to see if the cord worked with the laptop it goes to and it works fine, but when I used it for the tv it powers on but will not stay on for long which may be a short in the powerblock or an overload on the laptops cord.Keep in mind Im not useing the laptop power block ,only the detachable section of cord that plugs into the wall and then goes into the power block, not the end that goes into the tv.
Anyway, I was getting the receipt and the tv together to take back when when I noticed it said on the receipt all sales final, no refunds unless otherwise noted. If I had seen this before I paid for the tv, I wouldve not given these people a single penny at all. I know in these other complaints Ive read they respond by saying its policy that is posted in various locations around the store and its on the receipt they arent required to follow the federal law, however since its been less than 24 ours, I did the transaction with a credit/debit card, AND they sold me an incomplete defective product then they are required to give me a full refund.
I will be calling my bank to notify them of the situation and going up there the very first thing in the morning with my receipt to get a full refund of my money $240.71. If I need to call the bank while Im there to dispute the charges I will. I know Im covered and protected because under the Consumer Rights Act (which replaced the Sale of Goods Act in October 2015), I , and ANY other consumer have a statutory right to return something and get our money back, not a store credit, if it's faulty.
I am not a hard customer to please at all, but I do want what I pay for. As a single parent every penny counts and I dont spend money on partially complete, defective products. Im posting this in advance to make a public record of the situation before I go up and attempt the return
