We signed a contract for a pool, firepit and concrete decking. At the time of signing Andrew Yingling, Sales Representative, indicated the construction time would be approximately 7 working days.
Construction began on November 8, 2018 and as of writing this complaint it as been 65 days.
Current outstanding issues that still have not been completed and have been communicated to the Alaglas Logistics Manger, Janie Moreno:
1. Pool filter backwash pipes have been incorrectly installed to the deck drains. When a backwash was attempted by an Alaglas employee the backwash water flows out the deck drain and back into the pool.
2. The fire pit is not complete. I have provided pool company president, logistics manager and contractor the manufacture installation instructions and safety guidelines.
The contractor, E and J Concrete, has not ever installed a gas fire pit and has no knowledge of the installation and safety requirements outlined by the manufacturer. The Alaglas contractor is attempting to install the fire pit with inadequate cross ventilation and restricting access to the gas shut off valve.
3. One end of the deck drain has yet to be properly run and buried.
4. Aqua sprayers do not spray evenly. Several streams are spraying in a abnormal and undesirable direction.
5. Umbrella sleeves need to have the edges and masking tape removed. There is currently overlapping concrete on top of the sleeves.
6. At the time of writing this Alaglas has no plans to clean the pool further and get water chemicals balanced correctly. Currently the pool water is murky and cloudy with dirt and clay. The pool water visibility is approximately one foot.
Contractor did not start work in a timely fashion and quit the job without meeting terms of contract. Alaglas Pools had a contract with us to complete the installation of the pool by 7/5/2017 . We handed over a certified Cashier's check for $16,500 (a little more than their requested amount of $16,112.00. They started deviating from the contract pretty soon - 1) They said the Olympian Topaz was on backorder (even though the sales person Bob and indicated that it was the color that was lowest in demand) and we said we could switch to Olympian in Quartz color. They scheduled the initial job of excavation that was to start at 7:00 AM on 6/27/2017 (delay of almost a week from the original scheduled start). The contractor turned up with the equipment two hours late and did not want to do the job per the original specs. He wanted to change the way the pool was laid out in the backyard and did not initially want to remove two trees that was agreed upon. Once they started the work almost 3 hrs later than the 7:00 AM start; he pulled the tree to the side. When my wife requested that they move the tree to a spot where we had other trees in a pile, he demanded to speak to me while I was in a meeting and refused to talk to my wife. Frank was rude to my wife and said he was going to take his equipment and leave. He then dragged the tree back to where it originally stood and left a mess. On calling the office, my wife was told that they could refund the deposit less $1,000.00. Since the contractor left without completing the job, my wife said that we need a full refund of $16,500.00 due to the breach of contract by Alaglas. In this process of installing a beautiful pool in time for our baby's first birthday, we lost valuable time, $20.00 in bank fees as I had to draw two certified checks for Alaglass, interest for the pool financing we took out and of course $16,500.00 in deposit we haven't yet received a refund for and gained an eyesore of a backyard in the process.
