Robert Grinnell insisted that a group of 14 individuals from Tucson pay $5000 cash for a tour that included round trip airfare to Ireland for 11 days. On the way home our flights were delayed. After staying over night in LA and another flight being canceled, I asked the Delta ticket agent for a refund so that I could purchase another ticket on another airline.
At first they agreed to refund the money, however no money was exchanged for my ticket so they could not refund my money. Upon further investigation, I found out that the travel agent, Mr. Grinnel had pocketed the money I had paid and purchased my tickets with air miles that he had accumulated in his Delta account. Not only was I not afforded the promise that my airfare would be purchased with the funds that I provided, but I was cheated out of the air miles because the flights were not eligible for sky miles because they were paid for with the travel agents sky miles.
I contacted the travel agent and first he told me that he had used his sky miles to off set the cost of the trip. When I contacted him and asked for a resolution he told me he was doing me a favor because the airline ticket price had increased from the price he had originally quoted and said that the sky miles were only worth $.01 per mile and were worth $40. He also advised me that it was my fault because I did not provide him with my frequent flyer number when he booked my flight. There was another individual that was on my reservation that he did the same thing to as she was on my itenerary and it showed that he used his sky miles to book her flights as well.
I had purchased another trip from him for $470 for a trip to Mt. Lemmon and he canceled that trip and told me I was no longer welcome. He has refused to reimburse me for anything as of yet except for the first offer of $40, which I believe is unethical and unreasonable.
