Advanced Oral Specialty Group Reviews

Dear patient consider twice before investing money in this dentist. With Dr. Meltzer I had one implant to insert. After insertion of implant by Meltzer on X-ray I noticed approx. 4-5 mm round metal object inserted next to implant. I freaked out seeing it. As a patient always ask dentist before inserting implant how bone augmentation will be done with details. In my case he inserted metal TAC to support implant. Metal TAC was causing excruciating pain and was removed surgically. Later implant was removed too. I asked Dr. Meltler to reimburse financially. His fee much, much higher than others. His answer was that he will re-do and do right this time. He inserted implant a second time. Implant has failed again because of not enough bone and gums. I damaged bone, gums, lost lots of money, time, trust. Go with dentist who gives verbal explanation how bone augmentation will be done. Bone and gums are very important for implant.

What should have been a mutually rewarding experience, after spending such an exorbitant amount of money with dr. Meltzer ($32,550), in fact turned out to be a one-way hellish nightmare for my husband and me. I feel that dr. Meltzer is 100% a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.” when the money is on the line for him, he will treat you like gold. However, after it’s spent, if one problem comes up, you will feel like an absolute menace to him. He is all about the money. Before i decided to contract dr. Meltzer for this huge expense of full upper and lower implants, i read the reviews. There were the usual “rubber stamp” 5-star reviews of people who had simple cases with him and were in and out of his care; but one stood out, and it was on “yscam.com,” and it was detailed and very worrisome. Dr. Meltzer quickly passed if off as someone who was “crazy” – and he spent a long time, from his car, trying to convince me of that fact. So i relented, and went with him. But because my case turned out not to be a “textbook” case, it turned into a horrific, three-year nightmare for us. He became visibly annoyed at anything that was not easy for him, and i felt the brunt of his wrath As if it were my fault ). The most specific complaints i have against dr. Meltzer are as follows: 1) making the top temporary bridge one tooth short, even after i stressed to him, in one of two consultations, that the right side of my face was wider than the left To this day he states that he intentionally did that, which is an absolute lie, and i have the files to prove it). He continued to say i wanted the tooth for “aesthetic” purposes – totally false! in order to fix the mistake, it required him having to add another tooth after the fact Which weakened the bridge and caused the tooth, or cantilever, to break, later on); 2) him having to “break” the bottom temporary bridge during surgery to make it fit correctly According to what his trusted surgical assistant told me), causing another weak point in the bridge, which also caused it to break and caused him to get very annoyed at me And he literally scolded me and blamed me for the breakages – i don’t remember ever getting scolded for breaking something accidentally); 3) giving me a product for pain called zilactin, to put on the bottom gums after surgery, which wound up causing such a severe infection inside the gums that he had to perform an extremely invasive surgery of cutting all the gum tissue out and stitching it all up, exposing my jaw bone and giving me the worst pain i’ve ever had in my entire life And he tried to remove himself from culpability by claiming he gave me the product for “cold sores,” even though i had none – and i have pictures of my entire mouth to prove it); 4) not showing one ounce of compassion or warmth during the entire horrendous ordeal of this excruciating pain and treatment; 5) after the tooth broke, he sent me a letter chiding me for not getting the permanents done sooner than i could afford, even though the records will show that it had been agreed upon by him, in writing, that i needed to wait a little longer than a year so i could pay off the $32,000 before incurring another $30,000 for permanents Sorry, dr. Meltzer, we are not all wealthy like you and some of your elitist patients may be); 6) writing another nasty letter to me early on, which was totally uncalled for, again for something totally not my fault; 7) had the rudest, most unprofessional and cold office manager, casey, who yelled at me about the tooth breaking Not my fault), and demanding that i pay $550 for the repair of the tooth, which by everyone’s account i should not have been charged at all for the repair of his added tooth; 8) had an employee, yonnie, scream at me at the top of her lungs when i opened my mouth to show her my infected gums, and instead of making her apologize for traumatizing me in this way, dr. Meltzer took it upon himself to apologize “on her behalf” Preposterous); 8) as a payback for me telling him that the tooth broke because it was added later instead of being part of the original piece, which visibly angered him, he “punished” me by making me wait almost 12 hours without anything on the top of my mouth to replace the bridge while it was being repaired -- including an additional 3-hour wait in the examination room while he chatted it up with a new patient. The top of my mouth, which had been exposed to the implant screws rubbing against my mouth and gums all this time, was filled with painful blister sores; and i was so traumatized by the long wait that i started to cry when he finally entered the examination room Without an apology for the unreasonable 12-hour wait), to which he abruptly stated, “when you compose yourself, i’ll come back.” he then made me wait another 20 minutes after that until he returned back to the room; 9) as if all that wasn’t bad enough, now that i’m looking to go to another periodontist for future care, i’m getting a hard time about having my test results and files released to me Of which i have 100% legal access). Yesterday, when i called them to tell them they had sent me a blank disk, i was told that “this is starting to take too much time,” even though i had still not received what i requested in order to get future care for my gums. If anyone reading this review does bring up my review to him, please don’t let him tell you that i’m crazy, too, because i assure you, i’m far from it.
