ADT Security Services Reviews

  • May 11, 2016

On August third of 2015, my common law wife and I were victims of a home invasion. We are also ADT Customers. Our Alarm was active and working at the time.

When we subscribed to ADT were told they offered a "Theft prevention Guarantee" whereby they would pay up to $500 of our insurance deductable. Since we have high deductable insurance, this meant we were due the entire $500 amount.

We carefully submitted the guarantee form along with all of the requested information. In spite of this, they have refused to pay as promised. When we contacted them they said this was because the guarantee only applied to one incident and since we had been victims in 2014, the Guarantee was now void. When we asked for them to show us where the guarantee said it only applied to the first incident we were told they would get back with us.

As of today, they have never been able to show that the Guaranttee is single use, and they have continued to withhold payment.

Sincerely,

Scott Boman

and

I am Scott Boman. The home-owners insurance policy is in my name, and my email address is [email protected]

My common-law wife is Linda L. Moore. She is the customer paying for the ADT Service on our home. Her email address is .com and here phone number is (***) ***-****.

PS: I was confused by the buttons bellow, because our monthly payments are frequently made by credit or debit card, but the Guarantee and check transaction are to be done by US mail.

I have a contract with ADT/Defendor's. My contract stated $44.00 a month yet since November they have been charging my credit card $47.00 basically overcharging me, so they on breaking their contract. I do not want their services any longer since I Can't even trust their billing. They refuse to release me of my contract.

NEVER WORKED. Feed up with this awful service and charges for nothing. Call to cancel, they told me I can't cancel because the 2 year agreement. So am I supposed to continue paying you even though you don't provide the services? What century do we live in now. I was stupid enough to even consider and paid for that long. Definitely think this company is out there to get peoples money. NO SERVICE at all... awful awful.

On Thursday, August 27 2015 my home was broken into. Among expensive electronics stolen, the house was completely ransacked. The police investigated and made a report. The following day I called around to local home security services. The only one that was opened on a Saturday was what I thought to be ADT, but was an affiliate company by the name of Defenders. First was told that they could install a system as early as that day. But after paying the installation fee of $104.31 they changed the date to the following Saturday. The I spoke to on the phone said that he was the manager at that location. I was told that I was getting a two thousand dollar security system installed free at no cost. And the only

other charge would be the monortering fee of $48.12 per month. On Saturday, September 5th, a technician came out to install the alarm system. The system itself seemed cheap. While installing it, he set off a false alarm. Police was dispatched to the house. As if that wasn't enough to make me wonder about his technical skills, he wanted to sat down, not to discuss items of a contract, but to sell me an upgrade for an additional $50.00 per month. I declined, and only signed a receipt for the equipment. (Not a contract). I was never given any other paperwork. After signing the receipt on a tablet, I asked him about receiving a folder, a booklet, a business card, something with information about the company

and the alarm. He left giving me nothing. I understood that I had three days to cancel, which I decided due to problems that surfaced from this company since day one. The following Monday was Labour Day. They were closed. I called on Tuesday, and request ed to cancel. First I kept getting put on hold, and transfered from person to person. I finally spoke to a person who began to bribe me with three months of free service and two $100.00 visa gift cards. I declined. I explained to him that I hadn't received a contract to validate the terms discussed by phone, which was to be a two year agreement. I also didn't receive any information, manuals for the system, that had been incorrectly installed, and the

equipment was faulty. I experienced opening my back door due to setting off the alarm. I was told that another technician would be sent out to fix any problems. However, my request to cancel was never honered. When I called to speak to a manager, I was put on hold without anyone returning to the phone. I was hung up on, and the second technician sat off another false alarm. The real trouble I experienced had just started. My bank account was overdraft because the ADT business had made an unauthorized withdrawal from my account for another $95.21 charge that was never mentioned or explained. I then received two $50.00 false alarm citations from the city of Baltimore, caused by each technician. Upon

filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, I did receive the two hundred dollar visa cards in the mail which they had already recharged in their statement. I also had to pay a $35.00 overdraft fee to my bank. Because of my complaint being in dispute, I began receiving robocalls from 7:00 am to around 8:00pm, each day. As months went by, the ADT advocates at the Indianapolis main office was relentlessly insisted that I was at fault, despite any fact, information or evidence I presented. By receiving a copy of my rebuttals submitted to them by the Better Business Bureau, and later the Consumer Protection Agency in their city, they manipulated information I had written, to use against me. Some time

during December, I received an anonymous envelope from ADT/Defender of a contract that was printed out with the handwriting of another person. That could undeniably be shown as completely different as compared to mine. Although I included this as evidence, in February of 2016, the Consumer Protection Agency advocate who were supposed to be assigned on my behalf ruled against my complaint, stating that I should pay ADT $1251.32 immediately. She had decided in favor of this company without considering, or reviewing the information, facts or evidence of my complaint. Instead, ADT and their affiliates continue to bribe, misinform, and misrepresent people. Through willful antics, they fail to fulfill

their obligations as trustworthy and reliable. The company clearly defies state and federal laws. They also seem to have a foolproof system to avoid being repremanded or cited for scams.

ADT can't install their outdoor cameras if your service provider doesn't help them. If your service provider does help them, your entire network will be vulnerable to attack. My service provider will not help them, but ADT placed the cameras anyway and then I found all this out when ADT refused to come and get the equipment they left in and attached to my house. Beware, the external camera company is not really ADT because when you call ADT about them, they have no control over and no real knowledge of them and will hide them from you. ADT thinks they have stuck me with $3K worth of worthless equipment. Here's what happened:

I have been an ADT customer for over 16 years. I met with ADT Security company sales representative, Cory Marrero on 1/27/2016 and the representative described a service that, after installation, it would allow us to monitor the outside of our home remotely.

ADT security company installers brought out some external cameras, attached them to the outside of our house but after 2 visits to our home, they never got them to work because the installer never mentioned or accessed the router and the technician who came out later refused to access router saying 'we don't service your router.'

So I asked the technician to take the useless equipment and he refused to do that. From spending hours on the phone trying to get them to come and get the equipment, I found out from ADT representatives, Cory Marrero and Derrick Miller that in order for their equipment to work, Verizon, my internet service provider, would have to go against Verizon's own security policy, and not only that, Verizon would have to assist ADT in going against its security policy, which Verizon refuses to do of course. Verizon indicated that our entire network would be compromised if ADT did make the changes to my router that they say they need. So the risk would be all on me.

ADT does not know how to make the cameras work without assistance from Verizon. Which I did not know at the time of signing the contract or at the time the installers were at our home. The sales rep nor the installer ever said a word about this.

Now ADT refuses to come and get their equipment and they obviously think they have roped me into a contract worth 3 Grand. The contract states that I have 3 days to cancel, but the installers did not come out for 5 days. And when they did come out (2/2/2016 & 2/16/2016), they left the cameras that they couldn't make work as described.

On the phone, Cory the sales rep, Derrick Miller, and Terry Widera, the Corporate 'Loyalty' person said they understood and would have someone come out and get the equipment 'but first they have to talk to someone else.' Now they are not responding to calls or texts. I called my attorney. If I have to sue them, I'M DONE WITH ADT.

These people hide behind ADT and you will spend hours trying to get the following information but I finally got hold of Terry Widera: ADT Security Services

I purchased theft alarm services from who I thought was ADT. I found out that my account is actually being handled by a company that ADT uses called Protect Your Home. If i had been told this upfront, I would have chosen a different company. Well, May '14, I called ADT and Protect Your Home to see them of my move to Texas and I would need my services relocated. Well, a few weeks later, I called both companies and informed them to cancel the disconnection of services at my present home ease I wasn't moving. Well, either someone didn't input the info or someone can't read. Needless to say, the services were disconnected and I took about 3 weeks to get the services back on. No apology, no discount on bill, nothing. Today, I get a call from Protect Your Home saying that they weren't sure a letter had been sent to me about I would be charged an early cancellation fee. I was shocked hearing this due to I'm paying my bill every month and it was confirmed my account is up to date and there's no balance. I'm so frustrated with this company's poor customer service, I'm almost at the point of paying the early cancellation fee just so I don't have to deal with them anymore. I even tried to reach ADT via Facebook and they blocked me when I told them about the problems I was having.

In April I called ADT to install service midway through the service I came upstairs from my basement to find the ADT tech sifting through my personal belongings on a stand he claimed he "dropped a screw" which was odd because nothing he was doing involved him being where he was doing what he was doing I asked him to leave so he went downstairs and cut all of my wires. I called ADT and complained so for some reason I obliged to have them send out another tech to finish the job a day or two later I called and cancelled the service this was in April it's not January and I got a letter from their billing dept which the adt rep said they are not affiliated and are a 3rd party but the 3rd party said they are apart of ADT they are hitting me with a $1358.06 bill ??? I cancelled within the alotted time which they only give you a 3 day window to cancel I told them I cancelled within the proper time frame only to be given a run around now they are telling me they will report me to the credit collection if I don't pay them what can I do ??

Purchaced adt home security as sales rep. Stated that if the phone line is cut or unpluged it will alert monitors and police will be called. Lie! then they offer for 600.00 dollars more to install cellular connection. After signing contract they got you. They show a good rating on line with home security systems as after thier subcontractors sucker you, the corporate office cuts ties with you if a problem arises and refers you to the lier contractor.

Now adt claims no responibility. You think you are dealing with one co. And find out you are dealing with at least two. Adt rating looks very good on line but after they ditch you and blame it on thier subcontractor they are out of the picture. Now they have no connection with the problem they caused. I have been on the phone over 2 hour 20 min. Now with no responce. Still on hold listening to music! so much for thier emerency services!

Then adt protect your home changes it name to defender as the complaints pile up.1600.00+ dollars plus another 600.00 for cell connect, for the same equipment thier compeditors claim they charge less than 400.00 for. No response to equipment failure 1st time. 2nd time equipment failed police showed up when there was no alarm set off. They claimed the panic button was pushed but no way. 3rd equipment failure, alarm went off by itself and it is deafening. They said they could not shut it off. Now i have hearing damage with rinking in my ears and have to wear hearing aids. After i filled a report on line the alarm went off by itself.

Adt has a perfect buisness model on scamming thier customers. They use the laws to protect themselfs and screw you for big bucks. And the attorney generals, consumer protection people, and bbb are guilty of not doing thier jobs. Bbb rates a+ and shows 1 positive review, 1 neutral, and 99 negitive. How does that get an a+ ?

Adt is the worse home security i know. For the longest peroid of time i was not able to arm the system but was still getting charged and told i was being monitored. Lie! lie! lie!

Bait and switch, scam, lie, they and thier accomplists are one of the lowest forms of thiefery on the earth.

I purchased outdoor surveillance cameras from ADT a year ago. They've shtudown 27 times in the past year. Every time a camera stops working I have to spend half my day on hold whilst trying to schedule an appointment to repair the cameras. I then have to wait at least two weeks for an appointment with a "certified technician." The "certified Technician" is never able to fully fix the problem. They have a temporary fix that works for a few days and then the cameras stop working again, and again and again.

I have requested new cameras. ADT refuses to replace the defective cameras they sold me. And they refuse to honor their contract with me, which obligates them to provide a service that I pay for every month.

ADT has wasted so much of my precious time through their incompetence and greed. How is it legal for businesses like ADT to charge for a service, sell defective merchandise and not honor their contractual obligations?

Defender direct poses as ADT when they installed my security system. They gave me a 36 month contract that I kept 48 months. I was told after I honored me 36 months that I would become month to month and could end my services when I wanted to. I decided not to keep the services because I fell on hard times when my job closed at Kraft foods. I thought everything was fine until I look at my credit report and found them on there. I called to find out what it was. When I finally talk with someone they told me I ole them for breaching a contract and I had to pay for equipment of ADT. I told them I completed my contract. I ask for a copy of the contract that they never sent me. I spoke with someone today August 11,2015. I explained I completed my contract. The man told me I was entered into an automatic lifetime contract. Who says that stupid statement. Who can enter you in lifetime contract without your permission. I told him I was going to get a lawyer needless to say he got upset. When I told him I have a family member that works for ADT and he wasn't being truthful he got furious and said he wasn't going to argue with me. I wasn't arguing I was stating a fact. If others has have experience this please post so that we can get help #beingframed #poorconsumer
