I was looking for an English Bulldog and found a rescue through AdoptaPet.com, who referred to the facebook page Rescue & Adopt Animal Rescue
Last weekend I drove from Acworth GA to TN to meet Sherry (8 hours round trip). She specifically requested that I bring $300 cash and told me to meet her at 1210 SParta Pike, Lebanon, TN 37090.
She met me there gave me an English Bulldog named Moon. The dog had no leash or collar. Sherry did not require that any paperwork be signed. She indicated that the dog had not been spayed or microchipped. She said the dog had been vaccinated but she did not have the paperwork with her at the time. She said that she would mail it to me.
As soon as we got home, I noticed that the dog was urinating blood. I took the dog to the vet and found out that not only did the dog have a UTI, but also had a state 5-6 heart murmur (very serious, requires us to see a cardiologist and may require medication or surgery).
The health information was not disclosed and the dog had been advertised as healthy (I had confirmed this with her several times before purchasing the dog).
Before purchasing the dog, I had explained that I had children. Sherry said that it wouldn't be a problem. Since we've been home, the dog has charged at the kids, snapped at them, barked at them and last night the dog bit my child in the face and drew blood.
Once I confronted the rescue with the heart murmur they cut off contact via text/messanger/email and phone.
I voiced my concerns on a local forum and an Atlanta rescue worker reached out to me with some advice. He found out that this woman has been arrested numerous times for animal abuse and theft of property. So far she has operated under the following business names; RNA Animal Rescue, Rescue & Adopt Animal Rescue, Peace of Mind Rescue, and Rock N Acres, all with the same PO Box.
I texted and messanged the rescue stating that if they did not reach out to me that I would be contacting the police, department of agriculture's crimes unit, the IRS for non-profit fraud and I would go to the media.
They responded via messanger stating that they are willing to pick up the dog, but not to provide a refund upon receipt of the dog. This "rescue" still hasn't sent me the vaccinations. So of course, I cannot trust them to supply a refund after receiving the dog.
I think you have the wrong rescue. Adopt Me Animal Rescue doesn't do adoptions outside of the states of WI or NC. We would never drive a dog to a TN to be adopted. I
