I have rented a car from these folks, as I do nearly every month with many other companies. I had a weird feeling the moment I arrived at the airport and I discovered that they don't have an actual location. I had to call them to ask directions, to find out that their location is about 5 miles away. Once I arrived there I was greeted in a trailer office located in a parking lot. After completing all the formalities I asked clearly about the rate in case I had to keep the car longer. The representative confirmed that I was allowed to keep the car for as long as I wanted, the daily rate charged was the one agreed upon the rental contract.
After the expiration of my initial two days I received a phone call by a very rude operator with a very intimidating tone screaming at me on the phone that they were free to charge whatever they wanted. To return the car immediately or they would have blocked it remotely. Things unheard before.
Do NOT do business with this franchise!! I often rent cars due to my business travel and am always looking for competitive pricing. I found Ace through a third-party and the price was competitive (approx. $48 per day + insurance for mid-size SUV). I rented the vehicle for 3 days. They required a $300 deposit. During my travel, an incredibly small piece of gravel hit the windshield - almost not visible (and I know from experience, repairable).
Upon return of the vehicle, I appropriately pointed out the incredibly small crack in lower right passenger side of windshield. The rental attendant struggled to identify the crack, so I had to point it out. She stated I would need to file an "incident report" -- oh, and additionally, that the insurance would not cover it (I purchased the broadest coverage they had available at almost $40 per day).
They not only kept my $300 deposit, charged me a total of approx. $350 for the rental, but also withdrew another $500 dollars from my account for the windshield. What started as a $250-$300 rental has now cost me over $1100!! No recourse, no explanation and no corporate office to contact. Unbelievelable. I would hire an attorney for recourse just out of principal at this point.
Rented car from ace through hotwire. Reserved a nissan armada, large enough to fit 6 people with luggage. Upon arrival, after waiting almost 1.5 hours to get to the counter, was told location doesn't rent that vehicle but would provide something similar. The "similar" vehicle was a nissan pathfinder, much smaller and inappropriate.
We were told our only solution was to rent two vehicles. Classic bait and switch. Also told us that we had to purchase a toll pass for $9.99 a day as florida tolls no longer accept cash. That statement is found on the brochures all over counter - it is also a blatant lie. Would not accept our personal insurance and told us we had to purchase their insurance - that is illegal.
In talking to people on the shuttle bus, everyone said that they had a similar experience - right down to not getting the vehicle they reserved. This company should not be allowed to do business. Read the yelp and scamion reviews and the pattern of fraud becomes quite clear. Stay away!
I prepaid my rental through carrentals.com and the company was late opening 45 minutes and after the representative got organized, never apologized for being late, I gave him my valid drivers license, insurance information, and credit card for the deposit.
I already prepaid, he said that since I wasn't getting their insurance and because their credit card terminal was down that I needed to go to the seedy liquor store across the street and go to their atm to get cash for the deposit. I explained to use the credit card that I charged my rental, he refused! I told him to call carrentals.com to charge my credit card. He refused! I tod hm to call the other branches or corporate office. He refused! I told hm to take down the credit card number and charge me later! He refused. I told hm of 3 other ways of technology to charge a credit card.
He said he could only take cash! He was trying to intimidate me and he tried to extort cash from me! I refused to give him cash, especially the strong arm tactics and illegal bait and switch because I prepaid at a low rate.
He tried to intimidate me and I left walking in the rain home for 4 miles with no car, threatened, and waste of 3 hours! I wasn't going to te seedy atm at the liquor store when I had 4-5 valid credit cards I could have charged the deposit.
My experience with Ace Rent a Car was terrible. I reserved through Travelocity. First, I showed the clerk my full car insurance policy and she still added comprehensive when I was not looking. I did not sign for it but they refuse to refund. Beware of this procedure! I also agreed to let them fill up when I returned to make it easier but instead I filled the tank completely and returned the car. They charged me for a complete tank of gas! Very sneaky. Complete misrepresentation. Also, my agreement through Travelocity said I got unlimited mileage and the clerk tried to also charge me for that. I called Ace Rent a Car and they refuse to try to make the circumstance right. I called Travelocity and they said they could not do anything. I have called for the manager of Ace and they will not call me back. I did notice that the individual next to me did not have to provide all the extra insurance information. Very curious practice? I was ripped off for additional funds of over $70. They did not provide me a list of charges when they gave me the car. I was told some would be refunded at return and guess what? They kept the tank of gas charge and the comprehensive charge on my bill when they were not supposed to be there. Additionally, the clerk was rude and surfing on her phone while I was trying to check out. My advice is to stay away. They definitely took funds from me that I have no recourse to recover. Unethical behavior.
I rented alot of cars in the past and ACE is the "only" worst of them all.Their staff named Micheal and Christina from 5757 South Semoran Blvd, Orlando, Fl 32822 treated me with no human respect. They went ahead and charged me for unnecessary violations that was not even necessary. When we asked them to clarify, they dont know what they were saying or doing and spoken of something totally different of the inquiries we requested. They were the most disrespectful people I could ever imagine. This is definitely be my first and last time to rent a car with ACE rental car due to its poor costumer satisfaction. I absolutely think these staff should be more well trained into their profession and to treat costumers with respect and explanations instead of judging into consumptions. They are not professional and inhumane to costumers. They only care about charging costumers to the unnecessary maximum allowed and careless about costumer satisfaction. Christina and Micheal should be terminated from their postion as they are a fraud to the community. Ace Rental A Car, 5757 South Semoran Blvd, Orlando, Fl 32822
