Since July 2016 my first assignment with them this year I did not get a penny!! Despite calls and emails, no results.
They are making interpreters sign that they are contractors, not employees, so we cannot complain to Ministry of Labour, we have to go to court, most people don't do that as many of the interpreters are newcomers and are not familiar with the system.
Ministry of labour must accept interpreters' complaints and not believe that we are contractors and start realizing that we are victimes.
This is going for years, and I have red newspapers reports about interpreters experiences from the past, you can see the followings:
I started working for ABLE since October 2015. They told me I was to get paid at the end of every month. When a month went by and I never received my check, I called them and e-mailed them. They told me that I actually had to wait two months to be paid (the first one so they could bill the WCB and the second to process my check). Two months went by and they never paid me. I e-mailed them one more time and they told me that I actually ahd to wait 3 months to get paid but that because I was a single mom and I needed the money to buy presents and dinner for my son, they were going to process my pay check faster. They never did I am still waiting. The worst part is that they refuse to answer my e-mais and calls. The only time I was able to talk to someone, they hang up the phone. I am really frustared because I work really hard to provide for my son and then I encounter these type of companies that although make a lot of money, refuse to pay the very little they owe to their workers.
I worked for Able from 2004 till 2013; because Able did not pay me I brought that matter to Toronto Small Claims court, and Able offered me a settlement. Then, in September 2014 they phoned me offering work and promissing to pay without a delay. In September 2014 I resumed work for them, but they haven't paid for November 2014 and on. In April 2015, I received my last paycheque for September-October 2014.Today I filed another claim with Brampton Small Claims Court.

Now we are in 2017: Still, we are facing the same problem; the government did not take actions to help yet!
