I'm being charged for a membership to Blast fitness and the gym I signed up and it has been closed since 9/2018! I work nights so hadn't gotten around to cancelling.
I hadn't gone to this gym in over a year and tried cancelling over the phone, but members have to go in person and complete paperwork with the GM, who isn't always there. This is pretty shady. I'm not sure what to do to possibly get refunded lost membership dues.
They continue to bill me even though the contract expired in 2/2018. I contacted the company to cancel the account completely, and they still charge me every month. They insist on 30 days notice to cancel, so they can bill me again and again. They want $73 to cancel the account on 7/18(WITH NO CONTRACT). That is more than 30 days from 5/24. They only do that to bill me again! You should have cancelled the account the first time I asked you to. The rep said that the email would constitute as the written notice for the 30 days. They want to high-jack your credit, and milk you dry just to cancel a gym membership! You are the mob, and should be ashamed of yourself. You play semantics, instead of cancelling the account. It is a gym membership, not a house, not a car. I payed the contract to completion. I will contact the Arkansas Consumer General, and I will indeed sue you if you try to touch my credit with this ridiculous billing. I will contact my local news station. They should love to run a piece on this crook of a company!! You are ridiculous, ruthless, bankrupt, and immoral!!
My debit card was lost on vacation so I had to cancel - it was found the next day and I reinstated. In that one day period my club member and Amytime Fitness Grass Valley , CA (530-887-1285). In that one day period my monthly membership went through and was returned "account cancelled. I received a call from Eric Riley, I received a call from Eric Riley from ABC Financial - phone number 1-800-897-6877. He asked me to call the number provided OR go online at myIcluboneline.com. I calaed the number and received a automated system, it would not ALLOW ME TO SPEAK WITH A REAL PERSON. So I followed the prompts and put my card info in - it was not accepted. I was not given a prompt to speak with a REAL PERSON. I went to the web site and it is a login for club owners, NOT MEMBERS!
All I want to do is pay my bill! What kind of company is this? It seems unacceptable. PLEASE NOTE: i have no idea where this company is located, this information was not provided.
I do not want to be associated with a gym that uses this company: ABC Financial
I was only going to be in Las Vegas for approx 90 days so I joined a gym that assured me I would be able to easily cancel my membership when I was called back to work.
I informed the gym that I would be leaving at the end of March 2017 and was informed that I would need to call ABC Financial and tell them, which I did. In July of this year ABC Financial called me and said that I had to contact a different department to cancel the personal training portion, even though I no longer had a membership, and this had to be done in writing. I did this and was then called and told that I had to provide proof that I had moved over 25 miles from the gym. My utility bill's for my rental were in my husband's name so they would not accept these. I sent a copy of my house rental agreement and this was also deemed insufficient.
I then sent them a letter from my employer and did not hear from them again until today when I was contacted by a collection agency and told I owed over $7000.00 to ABC Financial. I contacted ABC directly after that but the agent said he couldn't give me any info about my account since it had been turned to collections but that he could email a supervisor and ask them to contact me. I have spent more time disputing these gym charges than I did at the actual gym.
My son has been trying to cancel the contract with this company for almost 2 years. They have been withdrawing $9.74 out of his account for approx 20 months. He went to the Naval Reserve training in Chicago and tried to cancel it while active, but they gave him the runaround and told him he had to submit certain documents from the base to prove he was there. One document was not an option for him to get because you have to be enlisted for regular active duty instead of a reservist. So, he was unable to get out of the contract. Also, most of his available time was very limited therefore leaving him the inability to stay on the phone for prolonged periods to resolve the contract issue.
The agents I spoke to were very friendly but rigid of how to resolve the issue. Basically, they wanted two years of payments to resolve. He now has 4 payments left and we have sent them those payments and a demand to cancel the automatic renewal and cancellation of the contract. A bank check was sent for $38.96. We sent the letter certified as instructed by the ABC Cust Svc Rep with the contract number (Which they had to provide because the original contract has been misplaced). We have put a stop payment on the account and are pending an emailed receipt from ABC Fin Svcs confirming the request and end of the contract.
This company continues to bill you after you have terminated your Retro Fitness membership.I had no idea this was happening until American Express began to charge me late fees for non payment.
I called American Express to block ABC Financial Services from billing my account which they did but ABC Financial Services gets around the system by changing thier billing ID number and the monthly payment amount. This confuses the surveillence systems at the credit card companies and many times ABC Financial will get thier money after your membership has been terminated
Be careful and monitor your credit card statements after your Retro Fitness membership has been terminated for at least 18 months
I decided to write a Outscam after reading several reports similar to the problem I am experiencing with ABC Financial Services, Inc. This is a collection agency based in Sherwood, Arkansas, and their main scam seems to be hustling people that have recently cancelled a gym membership.
I cancelled my gym membership on October 1, 2016, pursuant to the terms of the agreement. Nevertheless, my gym (24 Hour Fitness) turned my account over to a collection agency, to wit: ABC Financial Services, Inc. Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, if this was a reputable collection agency, the moment I notified them that I had acted per the terms of my contract, the collection efforts would have ended. However, ABC acted to the contrary. They ramped up the collection efforts despite several letters notifying them of the cancellation, telephone calls to the gym, etc. This collection company is as fraudulent as I have ever seen, and I worked 10 years in collections, long before the enactment of the FDCPA.
I am going to file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office in the State of Nevada with the hope that there are other complaints against ABC Financial Services, Inc.
I hope my Outscam has been helpful to someone, as someone's report was in fact useful to me.
I read a report giled against ABC Financial and they replied stating they couldn't find the users info. Research any gym that uses ABC financial and read the reviews. They all explain the nightmare cancellation policy. I've been told to join a website to cancel my gym membership, after providing contract number they require a key card number. my contract has been expired for 7 months, but no one can cancel it. Thats $420 they have billed me. I changed my bak card twice and my bank doesn't understand how this crooked company processes payments through the new bank cards they give me. There are concerns of identity theft, since I have never provided the necessary info to ABCFinancial to do this. I wish I would have bought lifelock credit protection so they could go after these guys. Next step is change banks, if that doesn't work I will change my name and ssn# hopefully that will stop them
I was a blast member for about 2 years. Earlier this year as I was doing my routine and came across a rude employee. I felt belittle as she mocked me with another employee as I worked out. That was it for me, seeing as the establishment isnt as professional as its compettitors. That day i try to cancelle my membership they gave me abc financial phone number and told me to go through them. I called them and explain the situation to a fellow who stated said his computers were running slow and assured me it was cancelled. it has now been an annual fee and 6 monthly payment later they are still taking money out and will do for next month because of thier 30 day cancel policy. I was never aware of this policy when i signed up or from the fellow at abc financial. I called today and they claim they have no record of my call and that i will have to write an email to confirm my cancelled membership and I will not recieve my refund. I am a hard working mother to 4 kids. my husband and I work hard for our money and this is ridiculous.
