AAMCO Transmissions, Inc. Reviews

I am writing this on December 7 2015.Transmision in my 1994 Ford f-150 was shifting hard occasionally.I took it to Aamco in Fridley Minnesota to see if they could figure out what was wrong. They said the transmion needed to be rebuilt at a cost of $3000.oo.Two weeks later I got it back and it did the same as if it hadn't been fixed at all.I purchased an extended 3 yr. warranty.Since then I have had it in and out of there 13 times to get it fixed correctly. It was there for 6 weeks from June -July.I was told by Ray the manager that he was doing various tests on it and couldn't find anything. Then in August the Owner Brian Hiat got involved.Well now they are doing more testing and still nothing is fixed.I,m getting the run around from these people and feel I should take them to court.

I am a small business owner of a livery service. Andy owner of Aamco poughkeepsie NY has done 3 complete transmissions rebuilds for my service on 3 different cars in 3 consecutive years. He has always given me a 12 month with Unlimited mieladge warrentee in exchange for my on going business (And he is very expensive compared to his competitors, always 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 thousand dollars per job,,, but worth it if he follows through on level of proffessionalism as well as the warrentee particulars). Everything fine and dandy till the 3rd job!!! 9 months after installing a completly re manufactured unit it failed, he told me the transmission needs to be replaced. but that he WILL NOT HONOR the warrentee because i put too many miles on the rebuilt unit! He knows very well i use these cars for my service ive mentioned it many times, why else would the unlimited part be so important for me? but wait!!! his unconditional warrentee clearly stated "UNLIMITED MILES"? "But Bob" he says to me on the phone "Had i know what type of miles you meant i would never have given you that warrentee"!!! But wait i say... you did give me that warentee!! What exactly does unlimited mean???

I live in a different state than my daughter (Texas) which makes it hard for me to help her when she needs it. When her car broke down and she needed to get it fixed I tried to help her only to be ripped off and taken advantage of.

Instead of disposing of my personal information (given to him over phone to get my daughters car fixed) he used it to get an on line loan in my name, made up an email address, was making payments on this so-called loan...but...he slipped up...he missed a payment which showed up on my credit report when I checked it several months later.

He is a smooth talker, a real con-man! When I called him about it he made all kinds of excuses that someone in his company did it or they usually try different credit card companies to set up an account which didn't get deleted as it should have, etc. etc. etc.!!!

To mine and the policeman's amazement he called the loan company and paid off the loan with a credit card. Now, whose card it was, I have no idea! Is this the first time he has done this? Now that's another question to be answered.

Was this the first time he has done something like this or will it be his last?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Then I had to wait two to three days before I got my $1,200 back. as I'm driving away from his building I notice a rattle and that they didn't connect any of my radio wires back together which led me to find that there was no fluid what so ever in my transmission so I had to go back to his freaken shop again for them to reconnect my radio wires and for them to top off with transmission fluid. All of that took away from my small amount of vacation time I get a year. After I get back from vacation I had to take my car back to them again so they could fix the loose muffler they didn't reattach properly. Now I have just recently learned that my transmission was not put together properly and have a serious transmission leak that has to be fixed asap. To be exact my transmission rear main seal wasn't properly secured on right. The owner and his staff not only rip you off with money but they don't even put together the transmission right and take the longest time doing it the wrong way. Highly unprofessional I am convinced that the owner's friends or family members put the lies about great service and satisfaction when really it's the exact opposite...

I was off to a bad start when AAMCO Transmissions failed to inform me information, statuses and updates on my vehicle. The owner responded to me like I was making it a inconvenience for him by asking for updates and pick up dates which kept getting pushed to the right. The owner failed to do my transaction correctly. I ended up paying him an additional $1,200 to $1,500 because he was confused about what he charged me. It was a big inconvenience for me to get my money back when I have a family of four that I have to provide for making money tight during that time period. When I finally picked up the vehicle from his shop I right away notice twodeficiencies that led me to a third. The first deficiency was they did not properly secure my muffler to my vehicle which created a rattle every time I drove somewhere. The second deficiency was my radio wires we're disconnected not so much a big deal but should have been reconnected prior to handing over the vehicle. My third deficiency that I found was they forgot to put transmission fluid into my vehicle. Which is a big problem because I could have gotten into an accident because of that. Now I just recently learned that I have a leak from the transmission rear main seal. I understand that I have a 2004 Ford Escape which is old but I paid $2,500 roughly to get my transmission fixed and I have had nothing but problems ever since I used their service.

I paid for a new fuel pump and diagnostic test they said this is why my car would not start then I heard my brakes squeezing so I thought it was the front ones they did all that but they were stillsqueaking so then I took it in and they also did the back brakes theninto it after I put over $2,000 into it my car does not want to start after they put the new fuel pump in and said that that was the problem I would like something done when I get part of my money back because I think it is unfair for them to charge me for all different things that I did not need done to my car

On Friday July 24th I dropped off my 2005 Nissan Pathfinder at AAMCO located at 1117 Lancaster Ave, Reading, PA 19607 for a diagnostic. My vehicle was having the following issues: 1) Positive cable on battery had a loose connection 2) Screeching noise at acceleration (which I informed them that my belt and tensioner had previously been replaced at another garage but this did not fix the problem) 3) Check engine light was on (not at the present moment because of the loose battery connection).

I was called by Izzy around 10am and told that my positive battery terminal needed to be replaced, along with the belt and tensioner to get rid of the screeching noise even though these had already been replaced in the past. He was unable to give me a diagnostic for the check engine light at this time because the light was not on. He said that it probably had reset itself from the bad positive cable connection from my battery but I could bring the vehicle back on Monday July 27th if the light came on during the weekend. At this time I opted not to repair the belt and tensioner since I wanted all repairs to be completed at once when I knew what the check engine issue was.

On Monday July 27th I dropped off my vehicle in the early morning because the check engine light was now on. Around noon James gave me a call to inform me that it was a catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 2 code but that they would need to complete about an hour of diagnostic to pin point exactly what the check engine light code was, it could be one of the actual catalytic convertors or just an oxygen sensor. I authorized this to be completed. At about 515p I received a call from James to tell me exactly what my vehicle needed repaired. He told me that I would need to replace one of my catalytic convertors but that it was highly recommended that both of them be replaced. He also discussed with me that my fan clutch and belt tensioner were the cause of the screeching but that the belt looked new and in good condition. I picked up the vehicle around 545pm with my husband and scheduled an appt to have the work started the following day Tuesday July 28th after he gave me a quote of the total cost and exactly what repairs would be completed. My husband and I explained to James that we needed the vehicle in tip top shape to be sure that it would pass emissions and inspection as we are planning to travel to Florida in the next month or so. James informed me that the repair would be a day and a half of work and I would have the vehicle back by the latest the afternoon of Wednesday July 29th.

Tuesday July 28th the vehicle was dropped off before opening time. I went in at open time and spoke with James about exactly what needed to be done. He said he would have a quote emailed to me at work by the latest 930am. I did not receive this quote until about 11am only after calling James to check on what was going on that I had not receive the quote yet. At the time I spoke to James I told him to go ahead and proceed with the repairs. The repairs to be completed were 1) automatic belt tensioner 2) fan clutch 3) all spark plugs 4) upstream oxygen sensor 5) driver side and passenger side catalytic convertors. The code for the catalytic convertors was the only engine code my vehicle had, as according to James. He again confirmed with me that the repairs would be done at the latest by the close of business Wednesday July 29th at which time I would be able to pick up my vehicle. This was extremely important because my husband had to arrange to miss work while these repairs were being completed.

I was called by James on Wednesday July 29th around lunch time saying my truck would be done in an hour or so and that all repairs had been completed. I informed James that I would be picking up the vehicle with my husband around 530p-545p when I was off work. I arrive to pick up my vehicle & it was "just being finished up". The technician accelerated the vehicle while it was still in the dock and it was still screeching. The technician took the vehicle for a “final” test drive and the vehicle screeches as he is pulling away and as he is pulling back in. I speak to James and inform him that my vehicle is clearly not fixed if it is still screeching. We refuse to take the vehicle until it is completely fixed & demand that they provide us with a rental being that my husband is due back to work that night. James tells me that he is unable to provide me with a rental that Aamco has a contract with Enterprise car rental for $30/day that I would have to pay out of pocket for, even though this is clearly their mistake for not having my vehicle correctly and completely repaired. James assures me that my vehicle would be priority on Thursday and informs us that they adjusted the power steering to the specific manufacturer’s recommendations when replacing the tensioner and fan clutch to be sure that it was not damaged when these were replaced. I make it clear to James that I would need my vehicle repaired and back to me Thursday July 30th.
