Yesterday, October 10,2017, I called A1 Locksmith for assistance as I had locked my keys in the car. Their website stated $35+ to perform this service. The service person met me at 2430 Pagehurst Drive in Midlothian, VA, where I was getting my hair cut. He arrived perhaps 10 or 15 minutes later and announced that the charge would be $80 if I paid cash and $100 if I charged it.
I called the business since I figured he was going to pocket the $20 and say nothing if I decided to pay cash . When I confronted the woman who answered the phone that the website said the fee was $35, and how on earth did it jump to costing $100? She made some vague comment about charging $15 for coming to the site where my car was located but of course that would only bump up the fee to $50. And obviously that $15 should show up on the website since anyne who calls to get keys out of a locked car would need on site service!
I asked her if she was backing this service person’s outrageous charge, and she stated yes. Today I tried to track down this business and discovered that it is not a brick and mortar store but only a mailbox. I feel that I should receive at least a $30 refund. I want to warn everyone never to use this company as they cheat people. There are other reports in other cities where consumers were cheated by A1 Locksmith.
