I was referred to 'A Water Solution" 7705 Pickerington Road, Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110, 614-834-5596 by AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. I had pipe leaks at the water heater and the toilet shut-off valve in the bathroom. On December 31, 2019 I had Niagara Falls in the bathroom at the toilet shut-off valve. I called everywher I could but being New Year's Eve nobody was working a full day - that is, the companies I called. I was so upset I had completely forgotten my American Home Shield warranty.
I shut off the water and went to Walmart to see if there was anything I could buy to stop if not just slow down the leak. This leak if left unattended would have ruined my floors and sub-floors and with the bathroom beside the great room it too would have received significant damage. The salesperson at Walmart sold me a tube of clear silicon. It didn't stop the leak but it slowed it down to the point it dripped into a plastic bowl.
I called my home warranty at American Home Shield and they dispatched "A Water Solution" to fix my issues. TO MY HORROR, this is the same company that tried to rip me off back in 2016 when my water heater went out. "Matt" the owner showed up with a particularly nasty attitude telling me my water heater was damaged because it was NOT normal wear/tear!
The water heater was leaking from the inside and expressed thru the bottom all over my floor! How is this NOT natural wear/tear, I mean, how does one go about abusing a water heater? He wrote this HUGE narrative to American Home Shield telling them it was damaged due to abnormal wear/tear therefore they denied it! I called AHS and demanded a 2nd opinion.
They sent another company who immediately asked me when I would be available for the intallation I most definitely had normal wear/tear. I had this home built back in 1998 and have the same water heater until 2016 is a major feat! Nobody else lives in my house and I rarely have guests.
Matt has all the charisma of a carpet tack! He's EXTREMELY HOSTILE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND A BULLY!!!!
Now let's retro to my recent adventure with "A Water Solution" 614-834-5596 located in Canal Winchester, Ohio. American Home Shield dropped the ball immediately by sending a contractor that should have been banned from my home because of the 2016 pack of lies he fed American Home Shield.
I didn't recognize the company until I answered the door...seen Matt and then the truck! I should have sent him away immediately but I didn't want to risk losing the $75.00 trade fee I had just paid American Home Shield. Matt wasn't here in my house a good 15 minutes. He arrived without a "Good Morning" or "Happy New Year" or even "Good morning I am Matt!" He says in a terse manner "I hear you got water leaks..." period, no smile, no cordial attitude - just a BULLY in very sense..
He goes to the laundry room first to look at the leaks at the water heater...he claimed, and these were his exact words: "this is a chemical reaction when the copper pipe meets the plastic pipe IT HAS BEEN LEAKING BUT IT ISN'T CURRENTLY LEAKING." I thought this was odd since I had just placed my finger on one of those pipes and it was still in fact leaking!
Matt then proceeds to the bathroom. The moment he saw the little blob of silicon he immediately begins to rant: "HAD YOU NOT PLACED THAT SILICON ON THERE I COULD HAVE FIXED IT! NOW, I AM GOING TO HAVE TO TEAR OUT THE DRYWALL, RUN A NEW PIPE TO THE TOILET AND CUT THE OLD VALVE OFF THE TOILET." He WAS IN THIS HOUSE A TOTAL OF FIFTEEN MINUTES!
Strange, he couldn't give me the estimate while he was here ranting and raving over a tiny bit of silicon he had to go back to his establishment to calculate the total but he doubted American Home Shield would pay for it - he cited that tiny bit of silicon as not being normal wear/tear?
Excuse me, how in the heck does one go about abusing a 22 year old toilet shut-off valve - was it my unrelenting desire to get up out of my sleep to go into the bathrooom in the middle of the night just to play with my toilet shut-off valve, or do I simply run to it thruout the day getting my jollies by playing with the shut-off valve?
Are you ready for this? MATT, THE OWNER OF "A WATER SOLUTION" SUBMITTED A CLAIM FOR $300 - YES, I SAID $300 TO INSTALL A NEW TOILET SHUT-OFF VALVE!!! In his narratives to American Home Shield he told them the failure was due to circumstances beyond normal wear/tear; therefore, American Home Shield denies my claim!!!
I asked the CSR at AHS how does one abuse a toilet shut-off valve? She, or the other two reps I spoke with couldn't tell me...ole Matt didn't seem to tell them HOW this wasn't normal wear/tear!!!! Matt's total $300 adventure included tearing out the drywall in the bathroom to run a new pipe to the basement and cutting the valve off the toilet!!! And what's even stranger - the people at American Home Shield didn't even bother to ask Matt how the damage was NOT due to normal wear/tear and what textbook definition he was using to come to these conclusions....
I demanded a second opinion from American Home Shield. They were SUPPOSED to have sent another contractor out for this 2nd opinion - which never came to fruition! I waited all day Friday for a call from this other company so I made arrangements - myself - to have another comapny to come out on Saturday Jan 4th. I was horrified to get a call 20 minutes before my scheduled repair letting me know he had truck trouble and would have to reschedule next week. I was furious at this point!
My cousin just happened to be here when I had the call Saturday. He asked to see what was going on. I showed him the leaks in the basement at the water heater. He said yes it was normal for them to have the chemical reaction but my pipes were still seeping!
He then went to the bathroom where he was laughing so hard I couldn't understand him for around 5 minutes or so - he was laughing that hard! He said there wasn't $300 total in this fix - he and I went to Lowes, purchased the part and incidentials totalling $28.12!!! My cousin had the valve off and installed in less than 15 minutes!
He said, there was absolutely no need to destroy the drywall nor was there a need for a new pipe - he simply hooked the new shut-off valve onto the existing pipe!!! So WHY in the hell couldn't Matt do the same thing? If you answered "A-V-A-R-I-C-E...you are quite correct! He thought he was going to pull a fast on by getting American Home Shield to deny the claim so I would have to call him back. To hell with him and "A Water Solution!"
I contacted American Home Shield again today January 6,2020 regarding the manner in which I was treated. Someone from their managerial level was supposed to have contacted me since I call them 3 times on Friday, one time Saturday morning, and again today 3 times total just to get my $75 trade fee refunded.
I am not trying to be deceptive or misleading - I want all of you reading this to proceed with caution when using "A Water Solution" 7705 Pickerington Road in Canal Winchester Ohio 43110...614-834-5596. Matt has the personality and charisma of a carpet tack! Hell will freeze over and will have a better chance of becoming a ski resort before I would let "A Water Solution" of Canal Winchester Ohio come within come within 2 feet of my property!
But do not take my word on this - use your own skills and look them up on the internet and see how many complaints they have most of them with Matt being "Mr. Congeniality" with his crude, rude, not to mention condescending attitude! And his amazing ability to LIE/LIE/LIE! Oh did I mention Matt is a liar?
*****BEWARE OF "A WATER SOLUTION" 7705 PICKERINGTON ROAD IN CANAL WINCHESTER OHIO 43110 614-834-5596 - THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS JUST LAME! AND THIS IS BEING POLITE, THERE ARE MANY EXPLETIVES I COULD HAVE USED HERE TO DESCRIBE OLE MATT AND A WATER SOLUTION - BUT I WON'T! I won't stoop to his level. He is by far the most hateful, crude, condescending and unprofessional technician I have ever dealt in my entire life!*****
I was referred to this company via American Home Shield home warranty. We bought a new house a couple months ago and needed the sump pump checked out as it wasn't working and a newly formed wet spot under where the master bath tub sits addressed. The issue was not with the timeliness of the appointment. Punctuality was good. It's simply that the 'technician' was extremely rude, belittling, rushing, did not listen to me when I was trying to tell him the issues with the plumbing, and as it turns out gave me incorrect information. Upon arriving, he was obviously rushing to leave. I quickly showed him the water spots in the ceiling, and led him to the master bath. I explained that I thought it may be the drain overflow. The night prior I had taken a bath and noticed [ a little ] water be sucked down the overflow, and later found the ceiling was wet. Now, I know my way around a bath tub and understand the concept of not filling it up over the overflow plate, and not letting it run over the tub. Duh, right? Well this is where things turned a little misogynistic and Mr. Technician decided to teach this dumb woman how to use a tub properly. He proceeded to tell me "well you can't fill the tub up so high" and "water cannot go down the overflow, that's not what it's for" (incorrect, it serves a couple purposes: catching small amounts of water and cleaning out waste). I asked him, so if water isn't supposed to get in the overflow, why is there an opening? He just kept repeating himself saying it's really for "snaking the drain only". I swear the way he's talking to me he's probably picturing me splashing around in the tub, gallons of water splashing up and out. He opened up the tub access and proceeded to tell me he couldn't see anything and they sprayed foam where he needed to see, so that was that....? What? I'm paying you to look at this and you can't even do that? I get there's foam in there but I'm sure you've seen it before? Can we take some of that out? This is why you're here, sir. I had to ask him to unscrew the overflow and GUESS what. It's loose. And the rubber seal looks like it has seen better days. So, do you think he'd offer to fix? Nope. I said "well I'd like to be able to use my tub?". Literally, "well if you really want me to rip apart your ceiling downstairs to figure it out, I can, but I don't think you'd want that" He also suggests ripping out the tub completely. Really? We go down to the basement to check out sump pump. About this point I was thinking of just telling him to leave. It's hard enough being female, having to deal with people who assume you know nothing about your home, and having to trust these people not to take your money. Luckily, I am rather home savvy. My dad taught me. I do all of the handy work around my home, and I'm proud of it. The sump situation also was a joke. When we bought the house we tested to see if it worked, put water down in the pit and the pump wasn't working, so we unplugged it. I told him this and he literally looks at it. Says he can't open access the sump because it is now sealed (true) due to a radon mitigation system. He sees its unplugged. Plugs it in and... It works. Turns to me.."it was unplugged" I was about to lose it and it was apparent that he was leaving anyway. Ladies and gents. This all happened in a matter of about 10 minutes!
