Inmates at pre-release center in Lawrence must use prepaid debit cards for A&B vending machines as part of thier canteen. Everyone I asked who has gotten an itemized receipt from the debit card company has found overcharges and double charges. More inmates need to follow through to see where their money is going. All the transaction histoys I checked, Mine plus 6 out of 6 others had duplicate charges made to thier account from vending machines in Canterbury NH and Middleton MA. even though they only use the machines in the Lawrence pre-release center. There were three cases of $7.50 charges for $2.00 purchases.
I requested a reimbursement when I left. I got it in full without question or confirmation on the sheriffs behalf. WHY?
They rip off everyone including visitors when they use thier own cards and reimburse anyone who bothers to notice it without question. Getting an itemize statement is difficult to do when using jail phones. If only a few bother to check then A&B is still raking it in.
