A-1 Auto Broker, Inc. Reviews

Update101821 A-1 Auto Broker Inc. owner and it’s associates/affiliates chose not to respond to the filed BBB complaint I submitted on 091821. The BBB closed out the complaint as they are not an enforcement agency, they contend to act as mediators between the parties involved in complaints submitted through their offices. I believe it to be extremely telling that this company was unwilling to work with an unbiased third party in order to address the issues brought forth. I will continue to make consumers aware of this incident. (End update 101821)

Update(101421): To date the Red Honda Civic that I purchased from this dealer has has the following work - that I have had to invest on top of the purchase:

1. The replacement of the entire AC system I picked the car up on Friday and by the following Monday it was in the shop due to overheating.

2. While repairs were being made to the AC system it was notes by the mechanic that the rims/tires/I wheels had been spray painted in order to cover damage.

3. The technician also noted there was no catalytic converter on the car (which is needed to pass state inspection - which the paperwork provided indicated it did).

4. Now we are left with rims/tires/wheels that need to be replaced and motor mounts.

Since purchase I have filed a BBB report (in progress) ams spoke with the owner, once. I have chosen not to speak with him again as I felt his tone was hostile. The car I purchased for all intents and purposes appeared to have been repaired enough to make a quick sale and the owner is upset that he feels his name and the name of his business have been tarnished by my statements - my life and that of my family should take precedence over the owner being “upset” because he has been called to stand on the mechanical inept and hazardous vehicle that was sold from his dealership.

How many other people has this happened to? I have the paperwork from a certified mechanic of the repairs that have been put into the car (that I have covered the costs for) and their recommendations for the rest of the work needed as indicated in this statement. This is egregious. I am a 100% disabled Air Force Veteran (African American woman) and feel as if the owner of A-1 Auto Broker Inc (on Culebra Road in San Antonio TX) completely took advantage of that.

I do not feel confident in their sales practices or further working with anyone from their business (without further assistance). This type of business practice should be illegal and called to the forefront. A faulty vehicle was knowingly sold to a customer that could have potential caused an accident and taken our lives and any Number of other people involved. (Updated ended101421)

(Initial report) We were told everything that we needed to hear in order to feel confident in proceeding in the purchase of a res 2005 Honda Civic. A red flag or at least indicator of there being undisclosed information should have suspected by the owner’s fast/over talking of myself and my son. He was quick to speak over us and not really listen. I must say he did work with us on the matter of payment as we were paying cash from an insurance settlement - a down payment/deposit was made on Wednesday and two days later, Friday, the balance paid in full.

Another red flag - the hood release latch had not been fixed as he stated it would, nor had the car been detailed. What the owner failed to mention was the amount of cover up work done on the car. Rims spray painted to cover up damage also damage on the tires themselves covered by spray paint, ac was blown, front brake pads at 2, oil black, catalytic converter missing (will not pass inspection that way) how did he get it to pass inspection!!!) - I am guessing just enough repairs were done to get a sale.

The car over heated two days after purchase and now there is almost a $3000 bill just to get the car out. Technicians said it was not worth the purchase price and that who ever sold the car knew what they were doing. Save your money, go elsewhere. Oh, He did say that I could take it or leave it. Get it inspected or not, my choice. Edit wording101821: He knew it was a lemon. (I can not say that the owner knew this vehicle was a lemon or that paperwork was knowingly falsified or that he cares more about his reputation than the fact that he sold a car to myself and my 17 year old son knowing that it was a driving hazard that could cost us our lives - but I can tell you that dealer dealership that sales a car in that condition with paperwork stating it passed the Texas state inspection is less than honest in my opinion).
