In October of 2018 I was currently in a Lease with a brand new truck and i wanted to swap out of this lease and purchase a truck with traditional lending. I came to Trux & Equipment with $5000.00 down and above average credit.
Then the truck was sold to me i asked about an extended warrenty and io was told by Matt Fuetter that the finance compnay wouldnt extend my loan to include a warenty. "I later found out that they would have because that is good for the security of the loan"
6 hours later after picking up my truck the ReGen light came on indicating that the truck needed to perform a ReGeneration of the the exaust system. when attempting to initialize the ReGen process the truck would not perform the function to ReGenerate the exaust system. I called Matt Fuetter and informed him that the truck needs a ReGen but t he truck wouldnt perform it.
On the way to the dealer the check engine light came on which is the next step in the "I need a ReGen" pocess that tells the driver that the exaust is not working correctly and it needs to clean itself and ReGenerate. When i arrived at the dealer i was told that "the truck will not ReGenerate if there is a check engine light on" i explained that the regen wouldnt work first and the check engine light was only after attempting the ReGen. I also informed the mechanic that the Optimized Idle was not working and could he show me how it works becasue i had not used this feature before.
The mechanic hooked up the computer and attempted to peform a ReGen and it failed, the mechanic then said it was because of the check engine light at which point he cleared the check engine light off the ECM "the trucks computer memory" and then forced the truck to perform a ReGen. He told me that he did engage the Idle Managment and it would shut off after 10 mins of idle.
After leaving i drove my new/used truck to pick up my empty trailer and go get my first load and start making money..... Well that was my goal. Except the 5th wheel didnt work..... it would not hook to a trailer correctly and it wouldnt release the trailer after it was hooked. So yet again i called Matt Fuetter and he told me to bring it to the shop.
The same mechanic looked at it and said "it just needs to be worked and losed up" and they made the locking jaws open and close a few times and told me it was fixed. When i got to my empty trailer it locked onto the trailer and i drove 2 hours away and got my first load. It turns out that the 5th wheel was not working correcly. In fact the Freightliner dealer who rebuilt the 5th wheel stated "the 5th wheel was out of adjustment and it was missing pieces and if i had attempted to haul my load i would have lost the trailer and probably killed someone or a few people" Next came the check engine issues which didnt even take a week to start messing up my life, the check engine light would pop on and i would have to take it to a shop and they informed me that the DEF system was all over the place and so i started replacing sensors on the exaust.
Everytime i went to a shop the system was indicating that another sensor was bad. I couldnt idle my truck because it would make the check engine light com on. I couldnt use my Idle Managment System to keep my truck warm in the winter. I litterally spend a weekend in Washington 2 miles from the Candian border in a blizzard with no heat and no way to keep my truck warm or myself because the truck will not operate corrrectly.
My wife has told me that i needed to park the truck in the parking lot of Trux & Equipment and walk away from this nightmare of sleping in freezing tempatures with no way to keep myself warm because this dealership put a truck up for sale that has such serious problems. 7 forced ReGenerations $75.00 to $125.00 one or two per week on my exaust system. I had replaced 6 sensors and the Wiring harness to the OneBox. The sensors were about $150.00 each not counting labor and the NOX sensor was about $600.00 not counting labor.
The exaust system wireing harness was $2400.00 not counting labor. I had to reprgram the ECM to turn on the Idle Managment system which should. allow the truck to idle and maintain an internal tempature. This did not change the ReGeneration problem. Still to this day i am thousands of dollars in repairs and still the truck does not run as it should.
