On July 23rd I chose Trenton NJ Locksmith to help unlock my car and retrieve my keys. I was quoted $30-45 plus $15 commuting fee. The locksmith arrived and charged me $176 because my windows were tinted "creating a dark environment". He was able to remedy the problem in less than two minutes.
When I contacted the company, I was told it was up to the discretion of the driver. This practice goes against what is stated in your blog, "Choosing
the Right Locksmith" (July 29, 2013).
"But a professional locksmith who does this everyday of their life will be able to give you a just about exact price for the specific service you
require. Always get a price before agreeing to have a technician come out."
"If you settle for a round about estimate you are opening yourself up for criminals to come and take advantage of you. i am sure you have seen the news stories talking about scam locksmiths who give one price and then charge almost triple what they quoted, to avoid this simply ask for the price."
I followed this blog advice but to no avail. I feel defrauded.
