Abuse. This is the one word to describe the treatment we got from this horrible and very expensive experience with our new roof with Landmark Roofers located in Norwalk, CT.
Do not trust the Marketing, schemes, machinations, and certainly the "ratings" because most of them are contrived.
The abuse that this company is capable of is horrifying and the psychological, emotional abuse and denials of responsibility are from the depths of Satan himself.
"Hans" has many personalities and is a Salesman and a good-ole-boy network [low-end level] manipulator and does not bother to follow through, manage, take RESPONSIBILITY for any wrongdoing and will resort to THREATS, ignoring the VIOLATIONS of Building Code, improper installation, lack of Ice and Water Shield, wrongful and illegal spacing of shingles, and the list goes on..... He will just ignore you and abuse you until you give up.
His boss will do the same. Anyone in the Trades, which I am and have witnessed all of the ugly behavior as a Builder myself, will tell you at least a few stories of what Landmark is capable of doing "behind the scenes" directly to a Homeowner simply because they have their money and it does not matter to them.
The BBB has given them a falsified "A+" Rating because every complaint against them gets classified as "Resolved." So why bother? The same with the falsified ratings online as well with Home Advisor [also called out for false positives publicly] and Angie's List and everywhere else.
The abuse that this company is capable of cannot be underestimated. They will be "nice guys" to the RIGHT people [Architects, and Builders] but I have witnessed what they did to more than a few Homeowners.
As stated, they will ignore all violations of Building Code and they will covertly sub-contract a job "outside of their company" without telling the trusting Homeowner, and nickel-and-dime/lowball the price covertly with the unethical subcontractor YET charge triple-A prices to the Homeowner!
I have seen too much carnage to stay quiet. This is an unethical, and demonic behavior pattern that has got to stop.
Scott Teed, the owner of this rogue roofer and exterior company, never bothered to get into his truck and see the wrongful and illegal installation of an expensive roof performed by his own men.
He charged us MORE than the other bidders for the roofing job, and yet he covertly "subcontracted" the job to another cheap, rogue roofer who skipped important steps in the installation to save money for himself, and violated both state and local roofing building code.
We had to call, write letters, and be abused and totally ignored for two YEARS until we got a third party involved and had to hire a Professional Roofing Inspector at our own expense to PROVE to this arrogant man and is unethical company that he violtaed building code, and tried to pass off a dangerous and LEAKING roof as "okay."
We were abused verbally, threatened, and attacked for two years.
I later discovered that this behavior is a pattern for this company if they think they can get away with it.
This roofer did a dishonest and unprofessional roof job on a home in Westchester County and was ultimately fired. They harrassed the Client and the attitude was terrible.
Later, the Mason that I use for all jobs had reported to me that Landmark caused horrific leaks and other bad workmanship at another Client's home in Greenwich, CT, a few months after the terrible job that I had to terminate them from.
Since this time I have heard from new Clients and other colleagues of the tactics that this manipulative roofer has thrown at his unsuspecting and trusting Clients.
Someone needs to tell this roofer that no matter how big the home, or what they think of any one homeowner, it should be a priviledge to work at someone's home and to improve the quality of their home.
