I recently did a refinance loan on my 2013 Dodge Avenger, since the loan is still upside down, I purchased GAP insurance, which I have proof of in the new loan paperwork. Loan officer said I should be able to get a partial refund on the previous GAP . There's the problem, contacted lien holder, before I dug up my original documents, and they gave me a company name, contact that company to inquire about the policy and they said they did a double check.. No POLICY.. . Contacted the dealership, several emails later all I'm getting from them is you need to come and sign papers in person. I say I want my policy number and proof of it first. So far no answer. I don't believe there is a POLICY at all and live quite far away. I also told them if they can't provide me proof I'm taking legal advice/action, and want a full refund with interest. All I have is the original documents that say BEACON/899, on a loan with 10% interest. I want to contact the company directly to take care of any paperwork for early cancellation. Not make an 80 mile round trip to sign a paper, for a policy Beacon tells me was never purchased. Buyers beware!!! Look up Doug Plattner Auto Group, not good!! Apparently he is still going strong. What would happen if I actually had a loss and tried to file a claim? I'm sure there are other victims/potential victims out there! Yikes. All I want is my fair share of the insurance payment back, as I just purchased another legitimate policy for almost as much. At least I have proof with cancellation instructions included. I don't have to travel to sign any paperwork either.
