Erie construction visited my home cold-calling about roof repair. That I need it is pretty obvious at a glance. The estimators showed up a day or two later, and wrote up a contract, with a specific price hastily written in on the back of a multi-part form. The form contains no date, nor does it contain an official statement that this estimate is binding. Estimators did not supply a copy of their warranty, which I had to snap with my cellphone. My personal notes indicate this estimate took place on April 05, 2018. I told them that it would be several weeks before I got back to them as I wanted to get more estimates. I also repeatedly declined to "sign now!" after repeated pressure and minor incentives.
After several days, I began receiving phone calls on a daily basis. I let the phone calls go to voicemail after the first one or two; no messages from them were ever left on voicemail. As I finally told them during one of these daily calls (on a date between April 12 and April 17), "I am not moving forward because my mother is dying." The rep I spoke with at that time seemed sympathetic and promised that I would be placed on on the "no call" list.
My mother died April 18, 2018, at about 1 a.m. April 19, I was trying to coordinate funeral plans in a city 1500+ miles away and an extended visit to care for my elderly father, and they called again. The woman insisted on reading through her script, and refusing to let me say anything except responses to her questions: "Were the reps courteous, on time, what did you think of our product, blah, blah, blah." She badgered me to tell her what price I was quoted, asking numerous times (and claiming their "system had changed" so she did not have that information available); I declined after numerous requests. Finally, she asked "why aren't you moving forward with this project?'" My response: "because my mother died yesterday, and you are badgering me." She hung up without so much as a "sorry for your loss."
I have blocked this company's number on my phone, and frankly I do not want to hear from them ever again. I cannot and will not in any way forgive this incredibly insensitive, rude behavior. There is no apology possible. I do not want to be tempted to say vile things to them if they call again. I want no contact. I do want this information known, and have filed a report with my local police department in case any soliciting permits, etc. can be revoked.
Erie Construction solicited for business in our neighborhood. We agreed to free estimate and thereafter two of their representatives came with Jason Sweet an Assistant manager and trainee. Jason did most of the talking mainly talking of how big their company is also that they make their own products in addition to having their warehouse house all the materials used in their construction. They even Bragg they will use acrylic panels and walk-in-tub flooring. They also assured us to do the job in one day. So Jason came up with a figure of a little more than $10K to do the bathroom renovation. I told him that it's beyond our budget. So he recalculated and came with $8754.00. We thought its still high but nevertheless with some hesitation agreed. The project started in the 31, May 2017. It began in a sour note. The guy made a mistake of cutting the panel and realized his mistake. So we called Jason and pointed out the problem. The person did a temporary fix and we were able to use the shower. My wife called their so called installation manager and followed up when the replacement panel will be delivered. Believing that they have the panel available in their Toledo warehouse we thought it will be delivered in a day or two. It took the days to come and later we found out that panels were coming from a company in Chicago. Turns out they do not make this materials as they allege. And that they do employ their construction personnel but sub-contract most their projects. All the inconvenience and anxiety and worries we have to undergo from the time we were sweet talk by Mr. Jason Sweet, I swear to God we will blog this untrustworthy and unreliable bunch of opportunistic company and their people andshould be exposed to the media and the general public. Beware of this Company.Never ever do business with them.!
I paid $42000.00 to have a maintenance free metal rood installed. The main parft of the roof that I can see looks good. A small section of roof covers a gas fireplace. This roof is lower than the main rood and is not conected to it in any way. On the last day that the contractors were working I noticed that they had not done any work on this small section of roof. I poined this out and they said they were aware and were going to do it last. When it appeared they were preparing to leave I glanced at the small section of roof and it looked ok. I paid and they left. Something made me take a much closer look. The edge of the roof meets the siding on the house. Instead of cutting the edge to match the contour of the siding they put a gash in the siding and placed the edge inside. The sidng had a clean water tight edge prior to them doing the work, To put the new flasing in they pried his edge up. This broked the sidng leaving a large hole. As I looked to the other side of this secton of roof I noticed even more beakage of the siding. The spot where they hacked the sidng to put the edge they put a glob of non latex calk to cover it. The end result is breakage f the siding exposing the house to water and potential pest infestaion. The roof is no longer maintenance free simce they applied calk. This will need periodic replacement. I am handicapped and unable to climb a ladder. That means I will have t hire someone to do the replacement. For the amount I paid I expected perfection and instead they did a poor job. They called me the day after completion to ask me how the roof looked and what I thought if it. I told them i was not satisfied and the reason why I was not. The survey ended at that point. I have not seen or heard from ayone from Erie about replacing the damaged siding. The rep who made the sale told me f there wsere ay problems thy would come and fix at no charge to me. That is a lie. They lowered the price some and said I would be good advertising t expandthe busines to my area. If someone calls me they wont be installing a roof once i tell my experience and send them pictures of the damage. If they place a sign in my yatd it will end up in the trash. Do not use this company.
