I found a boat online at Dusky and after working out some pricing and finance details decided to put down a deposit on it per Kathy, the salesperson, so that they can hold the boat and mark it as sold until I came down to see it. The boat would not be ready to see because it did not have an engine put on it yet. After putting down a deposit on 12/29 I was told that the boat would not be ready on the weekend I planned to come see it which was on Saturday, 1/13. Due to the delays I told them that I wanted to cancel coming down and would like to have my deposit refunded back to me since I live 4 hours away. I emailed the finance manager before I put my deposit down and let her know that this deal is not 100% until I came down to see the boat and I was never told by anyone that my refund was non refundable or else I would have never given them a deposit in the first place.
Upon cancelling my visit down I received an email from Kathy saying that the owner, Pam, was refusing to give me back my deposit because they ordered an engine for the boat for me. Well, I dont think anyone is going to buy a boat without an engine on it. I told her to have the owner call me. The next day the owner called me and started yelling and screaming at me and saying how I was wrong and there was no way in hell that she would refund my money. I was calm and tried to talk like a normal person but she yelled and yelled and would not even let me get a word out. I can not believe that "the largest Carolina Skiff Dealer in Florida" would treat potential customers this way and just try to keep there money for nothing in return. I would never buy anything from this place. Beware of their shady practices and do not give them a deposit on anything no matter what they say.
