Watch out for these thieves. Thsi company, cyclevin.com trolls craigslist preying on anyone they can to steal 25 dollars from. Here is how the scam works and its really easy to fall for. The owner of this company cyclevin.com has multiple people working for him trolling craigslist all day long. I was selling my 2010 ZX-10R on craigslist for a fair price. I was contacted by someone named Eric Horton, who works for Cyclevin.com. I didnt know this at the time and I fell for the scam. He was really interested in purchasing my motorcycle and asked all the right questions. He agreed to pay my asking price and was going to come and purchase the bike tomorrow, pending i give him a full vehicle report from cyclevin.com. He was so nice in providing the link for me. He claimed if the title search came back clean then we had a deal and he would be here to purchase my motorcycle the next day. I went to cyclevin.com and entered my VIN information along with my address and credit card information. I paid 25 dollars for something that didnt even resemble a vehicle report and sent it to the buyer as he asked. The vehicle report came back clean and I assumed we had a deal. Until I realized and did some research myself that this Eric Horton works for cyclevin.com and is trolling Craigslist claiming to be interested in purchasing a motorcycle, pending the history report comes back clean. He was even nice enough to provide me a link to his website. It seemed like a logical thing and was cheap enough and with all the emails and responses I recieved from the guy, it seemed totally legit. This is a straight up scam. He was never interested in purchasing my motorcycle, he was only interested in swindleing my 25 dollars for some lower than subpar report. This is totally legal, as the current laws only protect criminals, not the consumer. It should be illegal, and is totally unethical. Posing as a motorcycle buyer, to get you to pay the 25 dollars to his company for this so called vin report, not interested in buying anything at all. Only interested in getting your 25 dollars. Its a straight up scam and I want to make others aware of this criminal.
Thank. I just received an email from someone interested in buying my motorcycle saying the same things you have just mentioned..., the only difference is the name: Tom Silverstone. Thank, you again, for the warning!
I had a guy "[email protected]" Bill Stewart do the same to me yesterday with my BMW. I entered the VIN several times but it didn't take. No $25 taken. I'm glad I searched this because it looked like BS to me.
Bastards scammed me out of $20(I used $5 off coupon). The report is a total crap. Contains no viable information whatsoever. AVOID them at all costs and spread the word!
What a rip off! This guy 'Richard Soechting' responded to my add on craigslist several times asking for the history of my bike. On the second contact he said he would pay my price if I would get a history from cyclevinusa.com. He wanted to buy the bike the next day as long as I did the vin check. He even offered to include the price of the vin check in the price of the bike.
I did the vin check and was given a sample of a vin check of an Acura car? Not even a cycle like the name implies. I notified the help department and they never returned my email? Now this Richard has disappeared along with my money for the vin check? Ouch.
I did find another vin check by instavin vehicle history and title report and was given a better report however not very informative as well. My advice is not to do any vin checks.
"Franklin Maggard" contacted me through craigslist about purchasing my motorcycle and after a few emails pushed me to purchase a report from cyclevinus.com. Luckily I know how to google. What a scam.
Similar to other stories, i placed my bike on sale on Craigslist. A person reached out to me, asked for my regular email address and then basically said they were very interested and willing to drive 50 miles to see and buy the bike if only I would get a VIN report from cyclevinreport.com for $25. She even was kind enough to send the link. When I checked BBB and RippedOff website, read the stories and thought it was a scam. With further research, i went to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), a government approved list of reasonable VIn search companies for $3.50.
I sent her a note that i have a search that was clean and have not heard back. CycleVINreport company is unethical and downright dirty. I don't know how these folks sleep at night knowing that they are lying and cheating people from their hard earned money. They are really good and convincing. DON'T FALL FOR THAT. She even tried to make me feel guilty for making a big deal of $25.
Selling my bike, got an email from Theodor. After a few emails, he then asked for a VIN report, using CycleVin. I told him I was not going to use his, and after a few more back and forth emails, he is unfortunately good, I went ahead and did it. It looked legit, but said he couldn't call me because he is "mute" and would hire a friend to call me once the deal was done. I am sooo stupid, really felt it was a scam, but wanted to sell my bike for "full asking price". Once the report was done, very vague and basic, He didn't respond for a few days. Then when he responded it was that his mother had just died and he was doing the funeral thing, and now that she was dead, he needed to wait to buy the bike for a few weeks. Haven't heard anything since. I am just hoping that all he took was the $24 bucks and didn't get any other personal information and this stupid thing is over now.
I should have remembered what Mom always said, "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is". Wished I would have listened to you all and Mom!!
Thanks guys I had two people ask for the report. The first I just said no on the second I thought well I will see. Since I don't trust links send to me I went to the site on the way there what pops up but cyclevin scam. Thanks to all that posted. Saved me 25 dollars.
i recently had a bike advertised on craigslist,i had a prospective buyer tell me to use cyclevin,it seems this process is repeating itself over and over again, i used the cyclevin folks and their report is garbage, not inclusive, once i sent the vincheck the supposed buyer evaporated. so buyer and seller beware, if a buyer asks specifically for a cyclevin report, simpley tell them to get report themselves, ill make sure to let everyone i know in the bike community to avoid cyclevin.
ihad recently advertisied my bike on craigslist and had a guy ask for a cyclevin report, he provided the link to site, i had had another company vin check done earlier but he told me that the cyclevin one was a better one ,that they generated their reports by having humans do it not bots. well the report is garbage, doesnt tell anything,no service history no previous owenrs,my supposed purchaser after sending report seemed to disappear. ive sent them two requests for a refund, we will see if anything comes of this, dont pay these guys, research for a good vin report company.
Another scam this one for CYCLEVINREPORT.COM again asking for a report before coming to look at the motorcycle. The website looks legit and professional but is there only to take your money and info.
I googled “motorcycle vin checker” and was brought to cyclevin.com, so i gave it a try. The vin i entered for a 2016 kawasaki 650 returned information about something with four wheels, seats 5, is 15 ft long, has a 14.2 gallon tank and an msrp of $18,395! totally fraudulent.
I wish i could attach a picture of it. I may laugh about this later, but right now i am not very happy about it!
** new cyclevin customer service phone number: (760) 847-3046 **
Ordered a motorcycle vin report, paid $25. Report history showed the bike in question had 3 miles on the odometer instead of the actual reading. Sent four (4) refund request emails So far) with no response. Called the phone number listed on this website for cyclevin and spoke to the old owner, who gave me the new number.
This site is a total scam. Don't waste your money. I was trying to find information on a salvage title and the "report" provided no information. Don't waste your money.
Don't waste your money on this scam website. I was trying to find information on a prior salvage title I have and the report told me nothing. There was no information of use in the "report" they provide. Save your $25 dollars.
"Apology for late answer, I would be grateful a lot if you could purchase VIN report and that you obtain it from bikevinusa.com because they are the most accurate. I need to be sure the bike is in good condition – no damages, accidents or repairs so I will know exactly what I getting into. Also very important they are a way cheaper than a CarFax or AutoCheck, and you know how it is, every dollar you save counts'
Here is another individual trying to push a vehicle report. I have had three different individuals working this scam since I listed my bike. I notice when I give my phone number that none of them bother to call to ask about the bike, which I find very suspicious.

Thanks to all those above who had to give up $25 to learn a lesson for the rest of us. A "Benjie Lochte" emailed me a couple of times, I replied very vaguely to his questions. Then I got this: "Hi, Thanks for getting back at me. Is it possible that you send me history report of your vehicle because i'd like to check out some things before I come over. I can recommend you cyclevinusa.com since i have used them number of times and they're pretty realible. If everything is fine with the report then i am definitely interested in taking the bike and plus i will repay you for report. I hope that is fair enough. I would like to see bike tomorrow if you are free (and if everything is ok with history report) Thanks for understanding". You can tell by the horrible grammar and spelling that it's some bone head. SO I googled cyclevinusa and found this page warning me of the scam. I had a feeling it was crap, so I had to check and found out that it sure is.
Listed a motorcycle on Craigslist; got a response from a very interested party; they stated they would buy the bike if I would get a VIN report; they even provided the link to cyclevin.com in their response; this company pays trolls to entice you into buying a report and once you have the report they cut off all communication . This is happening all over the USA on Craiglist by this company; there was no buyer ; just a paid shill . I notified Craigslist and my credit card issuer for a fraud alert. THis guy has a BBB logo on his site; he is NOT a member !
This is a scam from a guy who was interested in our motorcycle, Robert Purdy, was the assumed name. They took my $25 and never heard from the guy again. He said he would reimburse us when the deal is done......history now. But wanted to inform others! Thank you
This "person" just contacted me about my bike and I asked if he would send me an email or text outside of Craigslist because I suspected something was odd with him asking for the vin number so quickly. I won't bother responding to him and see if I can flag him through Craigslist.

I got one of those calls but figured it was some sort of scam and blew him off. You can't do anything anymore without someone trying to scam you.

https://vincheck.report/motorcycle/ is another POS
Got this email from this guy Ryan Bass. it's a different site than cyclevin.com but why they have the same banner pic on both their websites??
Seems they are running several websites trying to have you spend money for them with different masks. who knows how many there are out there.
Just be careful ppl.
Awesome
Saved me from buying a wrecked bike
Total waste of money
